Will recent P2W champs be available later for F2P?

Lumatrix is basically locked behind a paywall for 99% of players. Dark Phoenix is locked behind a paywall for 98% of players who don't grind units like lunatics. To date, all other "trophy" champs, save Sigil Witch, were made available to non-paying players after some time passed. Will Lumatrix and Dark Phoenix be available later for those who choose not to pay Kabam's high prices now?

Way too many good champs behind massive paywalls (the basic ones, not even the special ones they created just to sell).
It's 100% unfun territory.

Don't get me wrong, I also get frustrated by some of Kabam's business decisions, but it's like, you either pay, grind and save units, or just don't participate in the sales and move on with your life.
No use being a crybaby about a video game and using emotional language more suited for real economic issues, like housing, medical care, etc.
I think at least a year before he will be more easily available
High Cost P2W champs = Weapon X, Jessica Jones, Dark Phoenix
- Will put a dent in your bank.
- High Defense prowess.
- Only obtainable during big events (Banquet, Heart of Fire, etc.)
Somehow Reasonable Cost P2W champs = Lumatrix, Platinumpass Champs
- Somehow reasonable price.
- Above Average on both Offense and Defense.
- Has a chance to enter basics.
Deadpool
- Deadpool
FTP players have to wait
Even assuming it's a paywall and not a unit wall given the steep unit costs, you obviously know the answer: it is to make money.
Can you explain to me why you feel like Kabam owes you a justification for making decisions in order to make money?
I don't go into a restaurant I can't afford to eat at and demand an explanation for their prices.
So what is the mindset here? Is it because so much is given for free in this game that it creates an expectation of access and so when something like this Dark Phoenix release comes out people feel betrayed?
He's obtainable by doing content.
1. Never before have meta relevant champs been made available exclusively to paying players. This is a change from the past where paying got you access earlier. It's a whole different beast when the access is either "pay now or don't get it."
2. More than paying players play this game. There aren't separate BG brackets for P2W v. F2P. Nor should there be, that's lunacy. But all competitive game modes have a balancing act that tries to weigh various players abilities. Fighting skill can get you so far. Roster size can get you further. Strategy can help. And so on. But when one of those things becomes too weighted, it disrupts the experience. Basically if roster size is now going to dictate more matchups than it did before, Kabam should explain why they think that's good for all of us, regardless of how much we spend.
3. It's just good player relations. I have no problem with spenders getting an advantage. But Kabam hasn't even acknowledged that they have changed how they roll out these amazing champs. It was a small problem with Lumatrix, it's a bigger problem with Dark Phoenix. Providing a justification for why they're disrupting the game balance so drastically is the least they can do.
4. I want to know if these champs really are exclusive. Kraven the Hunter still is not available as a 7" except as a spending prize in the Pool event last year. I don't care about Kraven because he's not meta relevant, but I care about Dark Phoenix. So I want to know if I should be more chill because hey, she'll come in a year or whatever. Mike's comment that I linked above suggests she won't be available. So I'm now free to criticize that decision, but I wouldn't have known if I didn't ask.
