Who to rank up? Dormammu or hood?

I have a 4 star awakened the hood at rank 4 level 40. Hood's signature ability is level 9. I also have a 5 star dormammu at rank 2 level 35. But the dormammu is unduped. Should I take Hood to rank 5 or dormammu to rank 3?
Please also give reasons to the choice

5 star Dormammu. 5/6 stars are the future of the game. Also Dormammu has really good power control, this comes in handy a lot.

nadda. The Hood's sig ability is not that impressive. And Dorm is great for defense.

100% dormammu. Imo he’s the best power control champ available. Even better than magik and OG vision. The reason I say that is because he doesn’t need to use a special to drain power (2nd medium drains every time) his power lock on sp2 is guaranteed (magik has a high chance but not 100%) and he drains a lot of power with his sp2 when imbued. And if that’s not enough, he has 2 immunities, he can nullify every buff on the opponent with an imbued sp1, his soul bond detonations deal quite a bit of direct damage, he can heal and of course he benefits from mystic dispersion. All of this happens without his sig too. His sig can Degen opponents after one of their buffs expires or is nullified. Amazing utility champ, have mine at 5/50 and he’s really good, he will be incredibly useful to you and not just for defence. Awakened he’s a good defender yes but I’d argue he’s still a better attacker than defender. Just learn to manage your dark energy and get used to his abilities.

@MegaSkater67 What about for the ultron in the last quest of chapter 4 of act 5?

Maybe for 5.4 Ultron since he doesn't have Ultron Prime's energy attack absorption sig.

I have both as awakened 4* 4/40 and use them both regularly.

Dorm is the worst champ to use against a duped Ultron. That's his only real limitation. I really like Dorm for the reasons MegaSkater listed above. He is one of the best utility champs in the game. Good on offense and defense. Just a little clunky when fighting.

That being said, I prefer using Hood. I just think he's more fun to fight with. I like his stagger ability and love his invisibility.

With the changes to war scoring and the fact he is 5*, I would go with Dorm. He has a higher ceiling for growth and will likely be the foundation of your future attack & defense teams.

Haven’t fought him yet, but I’ve heard there’s a lot of power gain on him so dormammu should be a good champ to use. And since it’s the classic version he won’t absorb all of his attacks, the other ultron is a pain for that.

I definitely agree with you that Dormammu probably has the strongest power control in the game. I would also agree that in this case the 5 star Dorm is the better choice over Hood. Only downsides are that damage output is horrible, and his animations are extremely clunky.

If you play him as a plain button-masher, Dorm's damage output is bad. You really need to build Dark energy (end combo with medium hits) and Soul Bonds (heavy attacks) to generate some sick damage.

Basically, you open the fight with a parry-heavy to establish a soul bond, then parry-MLLM combo until you've built a SP2. Then you parry-heavy to imbue the soul bond and fire off your SP2.

A long explanation on how to play with him:

Completely agree that his normal damage isn’t great, but that’s why you really have to make good use of soul bonds and if you’ve used a sp3 to keep gaining dark energy, that 2nd medium can power burn to deal a little extra too. Sp2 doesn’t have bad damage either and the Degen is nice when duped. But yeah his damage is only average, but that’s perfectly reasonable because he more than makes up for it in utility. If he had high damage too he’d be somewhat overpowered. As for his animations, I actually quite like them, they’re pretty cool. I hear some people tend to lag more when he’s in a fight but I’ve never noticed anything different personally.
