Question regarding new 2 star event mentioned in stream

Does this mean we need to stop ranking 2 stars? Are the granted champs permanent or temporary? If they are permanent can we get a list so we don’t rank those champs anymore.

I never thought about using the shards to max 2/3*s might give me something to use it on now
