Anyone else not able to add friends

I was wondering if this is due to the gifting event, but I can't add any new friends to my group in game. I have plenty of spots left and was looking to get some old ally mates in so I could gift them but every request I send them or they send me. Nothing happens?

I sent out 3 yesterday and haven’t gotten replies yet so I’m not sure if that’s what’s happening to me too.
