@ItsClobberinTime wdym? I dont think skill has the hardest defenders, the only thing he wouldn’t be useful for is robots and champs with purify, but if ramped he doesn’t even need the bleeds.
He has nothing to counter: Attuma, Korg, Yelena, Lumatrix, Dust, Capt. Britain, Jean, Sinister, Onslaught, Gentle, Domino, High Evolutionary, MODOK, Ham, Spider Woman, Photon, Thing, Enchantress, Man-Thing, Dark Phoenix, Maestro, Serpent, Thanos
So how exactly is he good for BGs? He's all raw damage no utility and he isn't a nuke like Starky where the damage output is so huge the fight is over in four combos to even justify his lack of utility, Sabretooth requires ramp first and he has no utility. He will be as bad as he already was before, nothing changed other than he can do Bullseye and even for that he needs sig 200 and still won't be as good as Gentle Sinister and others. He has no use in BGs unless you play in the bottom BGs VT tiers where people place Hit-Monkey and Falcon on defense.
At a certain point you can rank whoever, for what ever. He’s useful in bgs in the sense that if they aren’t a defender that is bleed immune he will most definitely cook them, the problem with this game is that they make characters so OP that they have to give them a counter the next month lmao. If your only interest is bgs then obviously you would rank your annoying defenders, fact of the matter is his damage is good. Do you realize how every new champ they add is either a top defender, or a specific counter for a defender. And if they aren’t one of those they are considered bad. I think they should shy away from that bc it gets really annoying, it’s like an infinite loop.
I'm not arguing that and I want Sabretooth myself but we have to be realistic here, he will be extremely mid for BGs because he lacks utility. Will he be cooking everywhere else? Absolutely, but currently he can't do any meta relevant defenders purely because of the lack of utility and because like you said lately every release is a top defender or attacker or both. Sad part is all he needed was something like a pursuit passive when he converts a fury and at least one daunted during specials, and we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.

I haven’t tried out Sabertooth yet but I keep seeing people say he can at least take Bullseye but I have no idea how he would. Are people just looking at the fact that his sig regens blocked crit damage? Because even if we ignore the fact that the big problem with Bullseye’s sp1 is the Bleeds and not the crit damage, there’s also the fact that that regen takes a whole 25 seconds to do its job and falls off if you can’t keep hitting the opponent. You’ll never guess which champion has an annoying evade ability that makes it very difficult to keep hitting him consistently.
Sabertooth’s buff looks interesting enough in longer form content but I’m in agreement that it really doesn’t look like he has anything going on that would make him useful in shorter form content like BGs. People always talk about damage this and damage that and Kabam keeps making noodle attackers but utility is very much king at the end of the day and Sabertooth has almost none to speak of.
Yeah but if you pair that up with the big sp2 regen as well it's likely he'll be able to finish with a good amount of health, the problem is it'll take him a whole minute and thirty seconds to do so because he has nothing to counter that evade which is why I said there are way better options. It just feels like his buff was left unfinished due to time tbh, all he needed was pursuit and at least one daunted and he would've been nuts.

That SP2 regen is piddly. 10% of missing health is almost nothing unless you can't stop getting hit.

It's probably enough to allow you to finish the fight with a decent amount left tho, you have multiple sources of regen it adds up, he's just not going to be fast enough to beat anyone.

At max it's 70% of hit damage and blocked crit damage over a month and that's if you stay aggressive so you don't lose them. Those mechanics are working in opposite directions. You want to stay aggressive to keep the regens going, but they take so long the opponent is likely to die before you get the value out of them.

Well, killer instinct lasts for 3 seconds so you basically have a 2 second window to hit him again lol I get what you mean tho, I guess until someone tests we're all really just guessing here. I think 80% hp left would be doable but it would still take too long to take him down to win anything, who knows. Regardless he sucks for BGs, nothing he does will really be helpful or useful.

Bro, he’s so good for questing bro
Lol didn't say he wasn't, but that's his only use now questing incursions and maybe long form content, sucks for everything else.
I feel like they spent too much of the limited update time dinking around with his Furies, didn't address his charge mechanic at all, and at the last second, added that bogus regen just to say they did some regen stuff. It still sucks. They cut the crusts off a 💩 sandwich and then put cheese on it. If the time was limited, they should have picked easier champs and/or lifted more existing stuff from other champs instead of adding all new stuff.
Maybe they were going for a Weapon X theme thing, like OG Deadpool is straight regen, X-pool is straight damage, Wolverine is regen with a little bleed, Sabretooth is damage with a little speck of regen? That's fine, but why does his regen have to be worse than Bishop's and who's going to use him without Sasquatch?
Changing the persistent charge mechanic would have required way more time testing that they didn't have
More testing than everyone already exclusively using him with Sasquatch? I mean outside of testing to make sure they didn't screw it up. They would need to change the Sasquatch synergy, but how hard would that be by comparison?
If they changed his persistent mechanic to something that just built up consistently they would have to specifically test it at all levels of ramp, how hard it is to achieve compared to how strong it is etc. For the buff we got they had to test how much his over cap furies helped him and not much else. Dll explicitly said that they weren't going to add me mechanics or rework anything in a huge way because they didn't have time for that. Voodoos new sp2 is about as extensive as they could get and that wasn't even that big of a change

Kabam has data for what happens adding +1 to his persistent charge with the SP3. It's already in the game as the Sasquatch synergy, so what more would they need to test? They know it's not game breaking, because it's already in the game.
If they didn't really have time to do it, they either shouldn't have, or they should have devoted more resources to it. Why don't they reuse more known good assets/mechanics to shave some time and effort off these projects? From the outside, it looks like Kabam MO is to create a Rube Goldberg machine to facilitate skipping over low hanging fruit.

Yo I was just using Sabretooth in BGS, I was up against killmonger, and his healing was actually really good surprisingly. It was ticking 1 percent every 1.5-2 secs, and I only had 1 single regeneration buff. I just thought I’d share this, bc what I saw was very useful healing.
