I didn't stop when I pulled trash from my 5 star crystals, why would I stop when I pull trash from 6 stars -_-
I do envy the guys that open 1 crystal and instantly win the game though. A trash 6 star will do literally nothing for your progression, and a Godtier 6 star will make all content in the game easy af for the upcoming months (or year) at least.
It is of course better to be lucky than unlucky, but my experience with this game is that patience eventually catches up to luck. I haven't had especially good luck - or particularly disastrous luck - with crystal pulls, but over time I've built up a solid roster of almost all the good 4* champions, and I've started to build up my 5* roster (one great champ, a couple good ones, a lot of arena fodder). Eventually I will have a decent 5* roster and no matter what I pull in my first 6* crystal it will not permanently define my game play any more than my first 4* pull (Storm) or my first 5* pull (Captain Marvel) ultimately did.
One of the more significant issues with the current champ acquisition system is the near total inability of the player to influence which 5*’s he or she obtains.
When 4*’s were at the pinnacle,* a player could devote time and money to grinding for them as basics even without a massive roster. For a solid two years, I nabbed every basic champ available via arena and painstakingly ranked them to the point they would be viable for streaking. It was difficult at first (I remember the initial DD & BW arenas that required 30 runs over three days for me to eclipse 3M points), but it was rewarding and paid off exponentially over time.
That’s simply unavailable with 5*’s (and presumably 6*’s), and it arguably becomes more so with changes to the 5* feature (although I’ve given up after only hitting one feature ever—Mordo in 2016). I think the more roster development depends on Kabam’s version of RNG, the less satisfaction you will find among the player base. Especially with the viral proliferation of “Noob with a god-tier” screenshots online and in chats.
I realize the game team has to cater to all levels within the community, but I sense an impatience among higher tier players that I suspect will erupt when/if a Blade 5* becomes stubbornly difficult to obtain in a few weeks despite record shard expenditure. Even more so if his (or other unnamed champs’) gameplay dynamics are “adjusted” for the integrity of the game a la 12.0.
Is that meant to imply the game will cease to exist? Not at all. I suspect it’s too ingrained a habit for many of us at this point. But I do expect to see more players take a step back, if not from playing then certainly from spending. The addicts never will, but the hobbyists have a host of other options that offer more rewarding payouts.

* I don’t want to sidetrack into a “are 4*’s still viable?” discussion. Some still are, and many are not and never were. Not the point of this post.
