Has this game sailed its course?

After playing this game for about 3 years (since ultron's introduction), I feel as though the game has finally run its course. For many people.
Why? Well because over the last few years, it feels as though nothing new has been introduced, gameplay wise. It's always been the same style maps, move up kill champs, move again. AQ, AW, quests, storylines, etc., it's all the same. What about portals I hear you say? It's a lazy way of making the map look bigger.
Now don't get me wrong, I love this game, and being able to get new champs every few weeks, but it only goes so far. AQ is so repetitive, with the same champs on the same nodes. There is no challenge. It comes down to prestige for rewards nowadays. They tried to mix AW up a little, and that failed, but at least the unpredictability of champs makes it fun. What about arena? Who feels like grinding for three days for a chance at a new champ? I'm getting my life back lol. Monthly challenges? Nothing new here either, call it a different name, put in different champs, same rewards as the last challenge. We all do it regardless, because we want the rewards.
But we are getting 6 stars soon!! Same champs, same playability. And have you seen the list released? I'll be saving my shards for many months until someone decent is released
We all know bases are a running joke and Kabam have zero intention of introducing it. But it gave us hope as to a new way to play the game.
So my question is, what can be done to keep people interested? New champs just doesn't cut it anymore for the veteran players. Adding another star to champs is not adding content. Sorry Kabam.
Let's keep the responses positive, maybe Kabam will hear us and take note of what the players look for in their game. We can all live in hope.

Now I know the game is unstable and that is why it cannot be done but they have the money and they can make the servers much more stable.
Who says it has to be added straight away? Why can't they create test this out on their own private server? It would be hard to do but I believe with their ideas of competition against people around the world that investing in 1v1 real time would be the best thing ever in this game.
You could have a type of competition where alliances face off in a 3 day battle that has 3 fights everyday between their very best members and those 3 members can bring back rewards for the alliance depending on how many of them win.
This idea would be worth the investment I can see so much happening with this but I just don't think they want to do it.
