AW question- do synergies matter??

I would love clarification if the synergies amongst champs can be used in AW? There is confusion that synergies from specific champ combinations do not apply in aw

    There should be no confusion at this point, the question is asked daily. Synergies do not work on AW defense and haven’t for a long time, maybe ever.

    Based on what? I have only seen posts saying all are not working.
