Armor shatter of medusa not stopping power gain

I noticed lately that sometimes when you shatter your opponents armor they will still gain energy.
I noticed this while fighting bishop and a all or nothing yondu (so with both passive and active energy gain)
I dont have accurate % of how many times this occured but is it is high enough to create this bug report
