I have ran the master rifts 3 times now and this time around the drop rates are so much better than the last. I guess a got a little lucky but I still know people In my alliance that also dropped 5* Gems so seems the loot is good.
Never thought I would say this, but I’m actually missing the Modok Labs. No energy, no RNG-based rewards...
I must have lost my mind when I said I wished rifts came back. Add the over-the-top energy requirements for EQ and they are even more of a fun-suck this time.
Negative...I know. But it’s hard to stay pumped about an event proven to drain resources and reward mediocre stuff (mostly)...especially when you are done with UC/Heroic and waiting on energy in Master 3.2 even after full energy plus alliance help.

I’ve always preferred modok lab to rifts. At least your guaranteed to come away with something good over the month event. I’d take a guaranteed 15k 5* shards rather than being likely to get around 5k or a useless t4c or basic with a small chance to get a full 5*/ awakening gem.
For the record, a Basic is not that low-rent. I pulled 2k 5* Shards my first run, along with the 500 for finishing. Still waiting on my second run. The Rewards in the Rift are nothing to shake a stick at, for 5 extra Fights.
The t4b is EASILY the worst item in the Master Rift. The nice part of the rifts are the availability of items that are either rare or impossible to get anywhere else in the game at that moment. T2 alpha fragments and 5* shards (the lowest possible being 1000*) are still somewhat tough to come by. T4 basic fragments are littered in so many places throughout the game. Most AQ map crystals, AQ rank rewards, daily event quests, uncollected daily crystals...and then you even have an arena for a full one every 9 days. I'm not saying I'm overflowing with t4 basics, I'm just saying that I want something a little less common.
I'd happily take 5* shards or t2 alpha fragments 10 times out of 10 over a full t4 basic.
Full disclosure, my first 2 master rifts were 1000 5* shards and a t4 basic. This is my 3rd round of rifts and from the master difficulty, I usually end up with 4* or 5* shards. Twice I received a 4* crystal (She-hulk and Electro). It's tough pulling the most basic stuff when others in your alliance are pulling awakening gems, t2 alphas, and 5* crystals.
You guys complain about everything lol. Everyone knows rifts are random, that's kind of the point of the rifts. Plus it brings excitement. We have got to remember that Kabam doesn't have to give us anything at all. So complaining when we you get FREE garbage gives Kabam less incentive to give us more free resources. (the energy for EQ is outrageous, but that's neither here nor there.)

Admittedly, I am griping. My main beef is the heavy drain on energy in return for a low chance at significant rewards in this month’s set up.
Randomness is just that, and honestly, if the potential rewards weren’t pretty good (provided the odds line up), I wouldn’t even bother thinking about running Beginner and Normal or scraping to get enough shards for a 4th T4 run. So that speaks a little to the fact that my perception that the value proposition for the event is not completely uneven.
