Crystal shards not returning if timed out of Chaos Rift

Yesterday I inadvertently timed out of the master chaos rift, but figured it was fine because the pop up said that the crystal would be returned to me at the end of the hour. I never got it back though. Anyone else have this problem?

If you time out, you lose your Entrance Fee and any Rewards.
