Spiderman evading but still getting hit

Just used OG Spiderman in dungeons, three times during the fight Punisher 2099 activates an L1 while I'm blocking, the wonderful AI kicks in and has Spidey evade but gets him clipped by the last few shots of Punisher revolvers. Three needless amounts of damage taken by a messed up feature. If I'm going to be forced to evade then it should be to my benefit and the complete L1 should miss but having me "evade" into more damage than I would have taken just blocking is nonsense.
