Ice Armor not working?!

I just fought thor ragnarok in aw on all or nothing node, I was using iceman and I had ice armor on and still his sp3 took 30% off my health.... anyone else had this issue??

    Ability accuracy reduction is usually what you need to consider in situations like this

    how exactly would that work? if ice armor is up in the moment of the sp3 no reason not to work right?!

    Thor Ragnarok does insane shock damage with his SP3. So while you only get 5% max damage from the direct damage, the shock damage that comes afterwards is not negated to only 5%. He is one of the champion's SP3 that Iceman can't just tank without repercussions.

    I know that, that's not the issue... shock is what eventually killed me but if he only did 5% damage with his sp3 I could've taken him down, that's how close it was lol... but I'm curious if this ever happened to anyone else, not necessarily against thor ragnarok of course

    If I used black widow or crossbones or someone like that, it doesn't matter if ice armour is there because the ability accuracy of it's damage cap is reduced, which means the ice armour damage cap might not activate.
    And then you take more than 5% damage.

    the ice armour took 5 percent of your health but it doesnt protect you from DOT effects that come AFTER a s3 so thats why your icey melted.

    just like a duped gp- she can survive a s3 but not the DOT effects that come after

    Mephisto also starts with soul imprisonment, so you don't get your ice armour until you use an sp3.

    Same goes when you get hit from BPCW's SP3 that has stored energy. Your HP will reduce to 5% but you will still get the stored energy damage right after the SP3 animation.

    ha! didn't know that ability reduction can completely nullify the effect of ice armor... I thought ability reduction only lowers your chances of ice armor activating

    Isn’t it a bug though that ice armor timer does not start after soul imprisonment ends? You should not have to fire an l3 to activate it, right?

    I don't think so. Normally you have ice armour and when it's broken it reforms, so if you never have it then it can't "reform".
    The reason why Medusa's sig ability still works is because over time she starts gaining the fury buff, and so after the timer ends she would gain it like normal.
    Idk it always made sense to me

    I thought the same thing till i Fought rulk I assumed.i wouldn't die if I pushed him to sp3.. But ..then I realised that the direct damage from his heat charges is what killed me..... Lol... But this thread gave me better understanding of ARA.

    Wait, I thought Thor Ragnarok’s SP3 could only do up to 20% of the opponent’s max health as damage. @MorgothMelkor said that Thor Ragnarok’s SP3 took away 30% of Iceman’s max health.
