Timing of AW seasons rewards and announcement of AW changes

I don't think it's inaccurate to say that the average MCOC player, after playing over a month of AW seasons, plans in advance who they will rank up with their AW Seasons rewards. These are game changing rewards, exclusive to this part of the game only, and these rewards are worth that degree of consideration.
That's what makes the timing of the reward distribution and the timing of the changes to AW seasons so mind-boggling.
These game changing rewards for this season were released BEFORE the game changing announcements were made. Many people surely used those rank up rewards to rank up champs prior to knowing that there would be major changes to the set up of alliance wars.
It seems like there is a real lack of foresight to release these rewards (where people can make their biggest changes) and then announce, oh by the way, the mode of play in which you earned these rewards is changing...
I wonder how many people today got their rewards, ranked up their champs on the basis of who they had already decided they needed to rank, and then were blind sided by this announcement 12+hours later.
To keep this constructive, here's a suggestion to the developers. Don't release game changing rewards from a particular part of the game, allow players the time to rank up champs, and then announce a change in the same mode of the game that the players earned their rewards hours later. Announce the changes, then release the rewards. At that point, you'll at least have more of a leg to stand on when justifying the changes.
