How to obtain 4* Thanos?

Ive seen quite a few players with the 4* Thanos champion and i have always wondered how he was obtained.
I have even had the unfortunate pleasure of facing him in arenas a few times.
(Yes Thanos as a champ, not Thanos' Team)
As the 4* Kang comes from a couple crystals is this the same as Thanos or is there a specific way to obtain him.
Or, is Thanos only obtainable by Kabams favorites?
Anyone who can shed a little light on this for me would be greatly appreciated.
