Alliance potions inventory overflow duration

So, I'm stocking up on Alliance potions for the new season of war and I've been buying 1 3k pot and 1 6k potion per day.
The expiration of the 3k potion is a 15 day cycle and the expiration of the 6k potion is a 30-day cycle...is this correct or a bug? Is the duration tied to the size of the potion?
