Selling 2 and 3 stars

Can anyone tell me if there are any downsides to selling all your 2 and 3 star champs? I mean they are completely useless at this point. Friend said he did it and his game is running much smoother than before.

yes, don't ever sell champs. You lose out on 4* and 5* champs in the future by not getting as many shards

There are downsides. Dup Rewards are worth much more. Some say Ranking and Selling gives more, but that's really just taking two steps forward, one step back. Not to mention a waste of Resources.
Having said that, some Sell, and it's entirely up to you. I just don't believe it has any bearing on smooth gameplay.
