Evangeline Lilly challenge for a newer player

rowsbeerowsbee Member Posts: 41
Looking for some help or suggestions to complete this challenge.

I'm wondering if this is worth the resources for a new player to complete? I've managed to 100% chapters 1-3 and I took an attempt at the easiest path in chapter 4 but came up short against Ant-Man.

I'm thinking the only way I'll be able to stand a chance to win using the resources I have is if I take my 3* Venompool to 3/30, he's currently 1/10. Venompool 3* is the only XL champ I have between 3 & 4* champs.

Roster I've been using for this challenge:

4* Mephisto 2/20
3* Archangel 4/40 sig level 1
3* Ronan 3/30 sig level 16
3* Blade 4/40 sig level 1
3* Captain America 3/30

Pretty much just been using my AA except when I tried chapter 4 I used both Ronan and Mephisto against Stark and no one was really effective against Ant-Man, I only took down 20% of his health with whoever was left of my roster.

In case it helps, other champs I have:
Miles Morales 4* 2/20
Guillotine 4* 1/01
Storm 4* 1/10
Wolverine 3* 4/40 sig level 1

You could always try going straight to Ant-Man instead of taking a path. Then you could use all of your champs against him. I'm assuming you will not be going for 100%? Either way I would at least try to beat Ant-Man so you can get some of the rewards, but I think you will need an XL champ most likely so you can avoid glancing damage.

Pretty sure I still need to do one path (path A being the "easiest") before I can jump to Ant-Man. So I should level up the Venompool and just endure a very very long fight and maybe a couple of revives?

Definitely will not 100% chapter 4 with my roster and resources but it's possible for me to complete it.

Yeah, the problem you have is that none of your smaller champs are going to be able to reduce Ant-Mans ability accuracy and thus you will be taking chip damage the whole fight from glancing. I think your only choice is to use your Venompool and have a long fight. If you can use a boost or two, and try to have some revives on hand. Also remember that Ant-Man will not bleed, so a lot of Venompool's special attacks won't do a lot of damage because they rely on bleed.

FYI I did beat it after I ranked Venompool, it was a painfully long fight, used most of my revives that I had in my inventory but didn't need to open any of the 4 hour crystals I've been saving. I think each fight against Ant-Man was something to the effect of 200-250 hits to 0-1, it must have taken a couple thousand hits to take him down.

Nice! The rewards were worth it though right?

That they were! I'm glad I made a go at it and was able to take him down, hopefully my roster for the next challenge will be better equipped for it.

My problem is I haven't been playing much arena for gold so leveling up is a long slow process, especially for 4* champs since I haven't been wasting any resources on 2* since I started and keep 3* ranking to a minimum save for great champs.

You are going about things the right way then. I don't run arena either and it definitely hurts the gold situation, especially when you need to rank 5* and 6* champs. Just keep saving until you get 4* champs that you will actually use. Try to keep that to a minimum as well because 5* are really what the game revolves around these days.

I figured I'd rank 4*'s up to 2/20 until I had a solid field for AW, AQ and general questing then only go above that for amazing champs and eventually 5*'s but at this rate it'll take me quite some time to get 5*'s as I still don't have 1.

You'll get there. Part of it comes from ranking up good 4* that can help you beat harder content. Once you are able to beat Heroic and Master difficulty in EQ you will be getting 2500 5* shards a month plus any you get from duping 4* champs and whatever other content you play. It is a slow road to getting 5* so don't be discouraged, it takes time and patience. You may even pull a garbage champ from your first 5* (I did) but keep playing and you will get someone worth investing in at some point. If you can beat champs like the final Ant-Man in Evangeline Lily's challenge with your current roster I have no doubt you will be able to get 5* champions very soon.

I do get it why some ppl probably don't run arena, but honestly, once you start running it regularly you'll realize how less time it takes for a far more quick progression.

Initial arenas are a bit difficult until you acquire a bunch of 4* and rank them to 3/30 and 4/40 but I've you have that everything, not just arena becomes easy.

Arena is a source of champs, shards, Battle chips, gold, units. Everything you need to get going fast.

Thanks, I was able to complete 100% Heroic but only managed to beat chapter 1 of Master, not sure if I'm going to bother trying chapter 2 this month or wait until the next monthly event quest and do some ranking from now until then.

I'm about halfway to my first 5* and 4* champs are starting to come a bit quicker, albeit still quite slow but the pace will pick up soon enough between wars and MEQ.

I usually do the first 2-3 milestones of the 1-2* arena and 2-3* arena just for the quick gold and units but haven't went any further than that nor have I done the 3-4* arena.

It does make sense to do arena for gold and units but ugh it's so time consuming and slow. The amount of time it takes to even get 2k battlechips (6-7 rounds?) for 3-5k gold is brutal. Looking at the price I need to pay to R4 my 4* Mephisto and I realize I need to do it.
