Mystic Sentinel in AQ & nullify

Is the Mystic Sentinel in AQ Map 5 supposed to be able to nullify something on the same hit that procs my champ's buff?
For example, I typically use Luke Cage and he will proc an Indestructible buff when hit. The Sentinel will hit me, and on the same hit that procs the buff will instantly nullify it. In effect, the Sentinel's nullify is working more like a Stagger.
Is this working as intended?
