Issues with AIs heavy attack?

so lately ive been having this problem where the enemies heavy attack goes WAY far forwards.
its hard to capture because it doesnt happen too often, but when it does it crucial.
im running 5.3 rn, and on the very first fight against punisher, im using AA, i back up and he charges heavy, so i wait it out, at a VERY GOOD distance. when he released it, it... almost like teleported at me and hit me.
it was very strange, but its been happening every once in a while.
i first noticed it against YJ uncollected, i double back stepped when he charged a heavy and he literally FLEW at me.
every time i try recreating the moment, it doesnt happen haha...

A while back Kabam Miike explained that the AI's heavy attack range depends on how close they are to your champion. If you're close the AI's heavy attack can "reach out" and cover more range. This can sound unfair at first but this also works to player's advantage.

An example is when you're fighting certain enemies with multi-hit heavy attacks. It's easy to think you have to dash back to twice to evade Dormammu's heavy attack, but if you do that in Alliance War or arena your counter attack is at risk of being parried. The better way to evade Dormammu's heavy attack is to bait him into using it at close range. Do that and you only have to evade once to dodge both of his hits compared to having to evade twice when he reaches out with it against champions that are farther away.
