Should I r5 my 4* Black Bolt? (read desc)

I often use Karnak, BB and Medusa while I'm questing. My 5* Karnak is r3 and my 4* Medusa is max. Right now it feels like I only use BB for his synergy and I don't actually use him in quests. I was wondering if you guys think I should max out my BB (currently at r4).

    If you already only use him for synergy then why bother? Also in may higher level quests you will need to fill that slot for utility/capability and not synergy.
