Forum notifications

I turned on notifications so that I know if someone replies to a thread I posted in. I want to know if the conversation continues.

That being said, is there a way to "roll-up" the notifications for very active threads? I don't need to see 25 notifications from the same conversation because I've been offline for a couple of hours. Perhaps modify it so that it says "Player_X and 5 others have commented on <thread>?

Also, is it possible to turn off notifications for specific threads only? I made the mistake of commenting on an announcement and now get 20 notifications an hour as other players analyze/dissect/complain about it. My question was answered, so would like to move on from just that one thread without turning off all the others.

Can we get a notification if we're quoted? They are obviously replying to your comment, it would be helpful to know if/when that happens.

The thing is, the system is set up to notify you on a single response....which is necessary since you may only get one response. After it notifies you regarding the first one (with the notification having already been sent) how would it remove the original notification to the recombine it with the subsequent notifications? It has no idea ahead of time regarding the number of people that may respond to your comment.

Turn off notifications for "Notify me when people comment on discussions I've participated in.".

Enable notifications for "Notify me when people comment on my bookmarked discussions." instead. Bookmark threads you want to see notifications. When you are done with a thread, remove the bookmark so you don't have to keep getting notifications for old threads.

That would be the limitation of real-time notifications.

For a system that isn't real-time (which is not implemented here), the notification can be sent out on a predetermined schedule such as every 8 hours or at 1 AM in the morning every day.

I'm on several other discussion forums that do it rather easily. It's tied to your site visit cookies.

I understand the real-time pop-up constraint while currently on the website, but while offline there must be a way to consolidate.
