I really like this thread to stay on topic, that we talk about SAW and not fall into a shouting back and forth.
That's why I for myself made a list, as objective as possible, of what last months was like and why this does not qualify as 'compensation'. It is a personnal list so it will not be complete for everyone, but I will try to stay as fair and constructive as possible. First off, I will start with what I liked last months.
1. Gwenpool goes to the movies: this was a nice event where you got rewarded hansomely for playing the game. It was a celebration of the cinematic universe, and credit where credit is due, this was a really nice event that made a lot of people happy.
2. Compensation for the misshap with the assassin missions. It was almost 2 months after the issue occurred , but they actually overcompensated a bit, wich was very nice.
3. I actually like the idea of bringing back dungeons. Specifically the idea behind it: a co-op game mode you can enjoy, outside of the usual grinding. It's optional and not needed for anything else.
4. The upgraded rewardsystem for alliance events. Also a welcome improvement.
These are the kind of things that make me feel appreciative of the game. I allways am very thankful when they compensate for anything. I don't take it for granted.
That being said, I'll jump in to my annoyences. I'll start of with the once that were, to me, making this game almost unplayable:
1. The overheating. I feel like I even got lucky with this, I play on an android device and mine did get warmer then it should, but only overheated when I played for a longer time. It sometimes froze and I had to restart my phone. It also drained my battery a lot quicker then it used to.
2. Outages. I feel like we had a lot of them lately. Sometimes they were longer, sometimes multiple a day. As most people I have a job and a family. I have only a limited times a day I play this game. Outages made me loose arena streaks, interfered with AW and AQ, made me loose health and therefore use healthpotions, made activated boosts go to waste, made me mis out on rank rewards with both arena and daily or three day events. This game is all about grinding, and when I am not able to play on the moments I can, it effects me a lot.
3. Laggy and unresponsive controls. I put this third because for me, I noticed it at the beginning of july and kinda it comes and goes. I noticed that threads regarding this issue exist for far longer and other people have experienced this before, so it might not be a recent problem. What happened for me was: a) unresponsive block. Sometimes I clearly block but nothing happens. b) Dropping block. I hold block and without any reason, it drops. c) freezing in heavy attack. Sometimes my champions freeze in the charging position. The only way to break it is hitting pause. When I unpause it heavy attacks. All 3 of this issues made me lose every single harder fight. It frustrated me and limited me to easier content.
On top of these issues, I also encountered some annoyences that were not game breaking, but did cause some frustration. I'm sure I've already forgetten most, but here are the once I remember.
1. Suddenly all alliances where in the same bracket. This was the last AQ before the new system without bracket. I know this was compensated, but the reason I still mention it will be explained in point 2. The main annoyence was that a lot of alliances started map 2 instead of the map they usually play.
2. Communication. This for me is not game breaking, but still is one of the most frustrating parts of the game. I'll use the previous issue as an example. First off, I used to never check this forum, but apparently that is expected. When issues arise, no ingame messages are send. So when the AQ issue arose, I checked the forum. The thread adressing the issue had the very much discussed post of a mod that said: feel free to keep playing. Some people found this clear enough. Others didn't. It doesn't even matter if it was clear or not, people did not find it a sufficient message to start using their resources on something that might not grand them what they would normally ge as a reward. Regardless of weither you find their communication clear enough or not, people asked to elaborate for days and all mods stayed quiet for days. When eventually they did answer people were angry that they lost days not running the maps they usually would. This anger could have been avoided by just answering the questions that were raised. This sadly is just one example of many more incidents that spark anger and frustration just by bad communication.
3. Visual bugs. Most notably, we had champions appearing in the background. But also at the start of each fight, the screen freezes.
4. Delay of the start of the new season in July
5. Arena and Event rewards being late.
6. Domino's breaking blocks. Making people lose AW fights.
All of these last ones are forgiveable. I would cover those with a mantle of love it was only these 6 points. But it wasn't. We had to deal with it during all of the game breaking stuff, wich did make it more frustrating.
Now for the SAW. Right off the bat the communication annoys me. In game it is described as 'gifts' and as just a summoner appreciation week. Only on the forum, and only after asking for elaborating does a mod tell us this is the compensation they where talking about. So why is it not enough for me? Well, I'll go over what we are getting:
The event itself. People where asking for a summoner appreciation month for quite a while now. They where asking for a month because it used to be a month. Regardless weither you call it an annual thing, when you decide to hold another appreciation event that is a week instead of a month, then off course you get an angry reaction. Off course people are disappointed and ask the company if they are all of the sudden less appreciatif of their players. For me it's really a bummer because it fell into my week vacation. A week I don't want to spend on my cell phone. So am I gonna miss out on compensation because I go on vacation for a week? That doesn't seem fair.
The packages: these are in no way any good. A high tier player receives the same as someone who is new to the game, so how is it supposed to reflect what we lost? It's a very low package, the utter mimimum you can give without being downright sarcastic.
The login crystal: great if this event was a month long. If it's a week long, you miss a lot just because of bad timing if it's in a week you're not available.
The healing halls: great if it was just appreciation, not when it's supposed to be compensation. Again you need to grind to get compensation, that just doesn't make sence to me. And again I am going to miss it because I'm on vacation.
The weeklong boost: Again great if it was just appreciation. Not suited for compensation. Again really painfull if you are on a vacation for one week.
The double rewards xp, gold,.. : same thing, great if it is a gift, really not ok when it's compensation. You don't let people grind and spend more time on your product to compensate for it not working.
All in all, I wish I could just stop playing this game. But I invested so much time in the slow climb to get where I am now, it is really hard to give it al up. Even worse, I actually spend money on this game, I don't want it to go away. So I won't stop playing right away. But I know I will never make the mistake of spending money on this game. And I will keep telling them why I am not satisfied.
It is important to keep in mind that certain individuals that continue to press their views about the game are very low level players. Currently less than 20k rating. This alone provides enough grounds to dismiss any wisdom as it pertains to compensation for any and all end game players. It's also impossible to provide any accurate insight into a situation in which an individual was not directly effected, admittedly.

Well how can he play and level up in the game if he is here 24/7 lmao
Does anyone know if the original thread for iPhone overheating is still up? I’ve sear for it numerous times but I only get results referencing it. My iPhone is back to getting toasty again. I’d rather not just start a new thread for it to be ignored and brushed aside, the same way my support ticket was.
Seatin just did a F U video for Strikeforce and basically said Kabam isnt that bad and seemed to gloss over 19.0 issues and this compensation fiasco. The article was on Polygon. I dont know why the strikeforce thing gained traction and this didnt. Maybe people are use to this with Kabam. Maybe they just arent important enough. To me this is worse cause of the issue of damaged phones, maintenance issues, etc.

You are clearly misinformed about where I'm at in the game. It's not even the same IGN. Regardless of that, the discussion is about Summoner Appreciation. Not End-Game Players, not even where people are at. We're discussing issues that pertain to all Players. Your continued efforts to make things personal are becoming stretched. Perhaps it's best to let it go and stick to the topic at hand.

I think what he was pointing out is that summoner appreciation is worth more for some players and less for others. The point being that if you are end game it is worth practically nothing which makes it not only an appreciation event that fails to appreciate all players, but a compensation that fails to compensate all players.

There is no point in the game where people don't benefit from Units, Revs, Pots, 5* Shards, and Universal Boosts. Not to mention whatever drops from the Crystal. People are so hung up on calling this for this and that for that, that they aren't acknowledging the fact that we've gotten a few 5*s, Cats, and other perks this month, as well as what's given. Call it what you want, but it still adds up to being available at one time. These things have to be accounted for when throwing Resources into the game. Everything adds up. Plus, it's an Event for everyone. Not End-Game versus Beginner.
Just because some are at an End-Game stage doesn't mean they're going to throw in 6* Shards, mass numbers of 5* Shards, and other invaluable Resources.

Yes and no. Things add up yes, boosts are useful yes. But they should have created brackets for the compensation. It is just common sense.

That has been done previously, and it led to an uproar. Besides that, if you're going to do something for the entire Player Base, it should be equal. It's Appreciation. Not Segregation. The whole premise for wanting Brackets is wanting more. That's what I'm addressing.

You say kabam shouldn’t use brackets because there was an uproar. There is an uproar for this as well.
What’s different about the potential uproar for bracketed compensation that means it’s a bad idea compared to the uproar that happened for the choice gift?

There is no difference, really. No matter what they do, some take issue. However, in terms of this situation, Summoner Appreciation has never been awarded based on Brackets. Only Compensation. The Compensation, as per the comment in this Thread, was the Package given. They chose to take the route of allowing people to select what best suits them, rather than separating people with Brackets. Which would inevitably leave people feeling left out. This way, everyone gets the same. Now, I can't say that's their reasoning in it because I'm not them, but that's what occurs to me.
Whether it's specifically for that or not, it still goes into Resources that are floating around in the game right now.
No Compensation would make up for broken phones. That's a Catch-22. Shards can't fix a phone. Consequently, if people pushed their devices to play through the overheating, that's pretty much their own risk. A few might have not noticed until damage was done, but if you're aware that your phone is overheating because of a conflict and you continue to play before it's resolved, there's not much fault otherwise. At least that's my view.
As for people not thinking it's enough, I don't debate others' views on it. They're entitled to them. My view is that the expectations are so high because of compounding issues, that nothing would be seen as good enough. It's a done deal before it's even given.

It seems you've hit the nail on the head... Appreciation is not compensation... compensation is not appreciation. Compensation should have bracketed rewards as different tiers of players missed out on different amounts of rewards. Appreciation does not need bracketing as you've said (although I think they could have thought it out a little more to be worthwhile to their longstanding players). The fact that they tried to make compensation and appreciation the same thing is where they went wrong.
People will feel left out no matter what method you use to give out compensation. I missed the cutoff for the 5* awakening gem around 12.0 by less than 1k rating. Sure I was disappointed but I realize they had to draw the line somewhere. I still got great compensation so I couldn't complain. You can't please everyone, but they should have at least tried to accomplish their goal of compensating players for what they missed out on. As it is they decided to tell us one thing and then do another. So I'm going to call out Kabam on their lies until they apologize.
Anybody else getting the shaft on unit drops from battlechips? Since the boosts went live I’ve not gotten a single unit from mass openings. Super small sample size, but I wouldn’t put it past them to alter the drop rates for the bonus week, turn them into glorified gold crystals.
You mean the Math that calculates tens of thousands of Shards based on potential earnings? Yeah, must be my head that's outlandish.
-.-
Yeah tens of thousands because that’s reasonable.... How about you wise up and take a proper sample of coherent ideas and suggestions. Snarky comments likes yours are counter productive. Especially when myself and others are putting forth well thought out ideas.
Back to non trolling topics. I think a proper compensations should be all packages. I truly believe the community would be happy with that.
Without a doubt! Especially since the overheating affected all aspects of the game.......and our devices (or ex-devices).

That's not feasible. People wanted Compensation in proportion to what they could have possibly earned and where they're at. That's not feasible when you're talking about a large number of people. The whole idea of Brackets was only introduced to accommodate 12.0, where adjustments needed to be made suited to where someone was at. That's not the same as the situation we're talking about now. Compensating for an issue that caused problems for all different ranges of Players is not an easy task. You can't go on potential when it comes to Arena and War. I could have gotten Goldpool had I put up enough Points. I didn't. Those aspects are competitions. You get what you put up, not what you could potentially put up. This whole idea that it affected people more than others is not accurate based on where they're at in the game. If you can't play for long because your device is overheating, that affects everyone the same. Doesn't matter if you're in Master or Stone. The effect is the same.
It's not reasonable to say it affected people more than others because the Rewards were more valuable. It affected people the exact same way, device overheated.

I would love if they would do surveys of what the people want or think of a idea
Dude, hes allergic to this thread. Not the others tho. Just this one.
Well how can he play and level up in the game if he is here 24/7 lmao
The guys in the content creators program aren't allowed to talk smack
Sha here, Every day. compensation isn't equivalent to the issues cost to me
Thats all for today
Is there a rule that says that? Or do they just follow that guideline so that they don't get kicked from the program?
And there you have it. If it was just appreciation then we're ok with it. Those rewards don't come close to compensate for all the issues.
It was previously stated that the negative feedback from the community was taken to the "team" so they are aware of our feelings.
In spite of this community outrage from the majority of players in regards to the level of rewards given is this the extent of the compensation?
There is no difference, really. No matter what they do, some take issue. However, in terms of this situation, Summoner Appreciation has never been awarded based on Brackets. Only Compensation. The Compensation, as per the comment in this Thread, was the Package given. They chose to take the route of allowing people to select what best suits them, rather than separating people with Brackets. Which would inevitably leave people feeling left out. This way, everyone gets the same. Now, I can't say that's their reasoning in it because I'm not them, but that's what occurs to me.
-.-

Without a doubt! Especially since the overheating affected all aspects of the game.......and our devices (or ex-devices).
Same as always. I've been pulling them. They come and go.
That's not feasible. People wanted Compensation in proportion to what they could have possibly earned and where they're at. That's not feasible when you're talking about a large number of people.
