Nope to every champ, nothing hurts more than pulling a falcon again and getting nothing for it because you sold him the first time.

You just have to rank him before selling him. Then you get more than you would've with a dupe.

Let me get this straight, you want me to put iso, gold, and other resources into a champ to sell. Just to get iso? Also you're missing out on the fact that you'll never get a max sig crystal for that champ and that, there is one less champ to use in arenas.

Everyone's situation is different. If you have spare materials, ISO, and Gold, and want more shards, then yes.

And as someone who has opened literally 1,000s of max sig crystals, I can tell you that they do not always give you shards. Like 5 to 10% of the time you get a same level +2 class sig stone, which is completely worthless.

The point is, if someone's advice includes the words "never" or "always", it's usually not great advice.

I know that the universal advice is to never sell champs, but the math has been done previously, and that's really not true advice. I suggest digging up old threads if you want to educate yourself.

The numbers don't lie. ranking them before selling them will net more shards than duping.

There are a few counter arguments to this:

Kabam has previously given out compensation based on summoner rating. I missed out on their top package by 5,000 points. that one hurt.

I may be wrong here, but if I remember correctly, for a 4* to be sold for more shards than you could get from max sig, you have to r3 them. This requires t1a which depending where you are in the game can be a hot commodity.

In addition to the previous point, you need gold for all this. And again, depending where you are at in the game, gold can be a hot commodity.

Completely true. I'm just pointing out that as a universal maxim, "never sell champs" doesn't hold up. There are completely appropriate times to sell champs if you're smart about it.

That is, if you consider turning a bunch of iso, gold and a T1A into 5 star shards "smart".

    (Hint: it's not)

I sell champs too. 1,2, and sometimes 3*s

You sold your 1* champs? Damn. That makes me sad. Those are collectors items to me. I value them quite a bit. My 1* Switch, OG Vision, etc. I love those guys!

We all struggle so much for as many rewards as we can get, but many players willingly give up TONS of rewards by selling champs. There is very little logic at play here.

Some of the cost/benefit comprehension here is downright frightening.

You know you get shards when you sell a champ right?
and he isn't "missing out" on the max sig crystal.
    duping champ 275 shards
    selling r3 champ 425 shards

I forget what the number is, but in the "never sell any champ" strategy you have to pull the champ many many times before you will catch up to the rank and sell method.
That's what he means by getting more than you would've with a dupe.

IF you struggle with gold, iso or t1a Selling champs isn't in your wheel house and won't benefit you.

^This. Basically in different stages of the game, you have different resources readily available. My personal advice is to never sell champs. But that's me talking from someone who did it before he realized the math, when I wasn't prepared to constantly rank and sell.

    Duping champ - 275 shards
Duping a max sig champ - 275-550 shards after only getting 275 shards 6 times.
selling r3 unduped champ - guaranteed 425 shards

If you have the resources, instant gratification is great some times.

One thing not mentioned earlier, is some people will look at upcoming basic arenas. If you do the rank and sell method, you can rank, sell, get them from arena, rinse and repeat with some champs.

When you have over 20 million gold and have to turn it into something, shards is a good choice.

Like I said, everyone's situation is different, and universal maxims can be poor advice for some people.
