Has anyone else faced Alliances in AW that are putting up minimal defenders?

Something my alliance has faced several times in the past few weeks are opponents in AW that put up perhaps 30% of their defenders (in some cases less than that), and one that didn't even place a boss. While we usually can overcome it, there have been several instances where we ended up losing because of the lack of opportunity to gain any attack points. In the most extreme example of this, they had MAYBE a half dozen defenders placed, no boss. Their alliance was low in membership, but they definitely should have been able to at least field defenders for each member that participated in attack, but that wasn't the case. With only that few opponents, there is no chance to gain points from attack.

I did a search and couldn't find a previous thread on this; however, is this some known strategy that some alliances, especially those with fewer members, are choosing to take? We just continue to proceed on and deal with it as best we can, but I wanted to see if others are facing this in their AW matchups.

You shouldn't be losing attack bonus if you actually clear all empty nodes on the map. Every node on the map that can hold a defender still gives 3 attack bonuses regardless if a champ is there. It sounds like your alliance just didn't clear the lines that didn't have defenders kn them thus giving up valuable points
