Is there anyway to get a specific type catalyst without waiting until the day of the event? And I mean like an easy way not 1 that requires lots of grinding lol?

nope. it's that and the occassional catalysts or shards from team events and single events. You can get random ones or shards from AQ map 2/3 as well. No "easy" way though other than to grind them out as needed. The daily events are probably the most reliable option (I usually get at least 2, but not always for 100% exploration).
