Nightcrawler evading while swashbuckling

Was in war top miniboss, had him swashbuckling, after a while he started evading again so I thought he had switched out, went to put him back in and he changed nodes it if swashbuckling, after I spent units on a revive and potions, not impressed

    Did he use his 1bar and still have the Evade buff up when you switched him?
