Is Karnak's physical resistance working?

I was doing some testing of Karnak (who has passive physical resistance) against Rol WinterSoldier and was wondering why he takes more damage than AgentVenom (who has no res) while blocking. I tested blocking of light and medium attacks, SP1 and SP2 - AV is always better.

Can someone explain how physical res works or when it affects incoming damage?

    4* champs have less challenge rating than the 5* this is one explanation but he fact that AV has higher resistance does it really weird! Don't know bro probably an other issue kabam has forgot :/

    I haven't tested this but would be interested to know if this is what makes Karnak so weak on defense.

    I tested both Karnak and Iron Fist (Both 3* maxed and no armor each). Fought some characters in the daily quests at the same approximate level (Maxed 3-stars) and both took the same amount of damage even though Karnak has physical resistance and Iron Fist doesn't. It seems that Karnaks resistance is not working at all.

    I got the opposite results. Karnak takes less damage than IF fighting BPCW. Karnak took 39/61 and IF took 50/77.

    Tested with both at 3/4/40 in monthly EQ normal mode 3.2.

    Just tested this against the SW in the 3rd heroic event quest, both IF and Karnak were damaged the same(85 on a light hit and 135 on a medium) and against BP CW in the 6th one (135 on a light hit and 210 on a medium).

    More than just physical resistance is added in when taking damage

    What else? It's not armor because both Iron Fist and Karnak have none, and not block proficiency because they aren't blocking.

    Thx for all your responses. @Grinder Can you specify that or provide an equation for block damage? Maybe that will solve the problem.
