Ronin vs Ronan stun lock

AQ map 4. Ronin mini boss. Brought Ronan because one of the nodes on him is power reserve. Partway through the fight he evaded, hit me with the L3.
I’m not that familiar with Ronin’s abilities, but reading through them I can’t see how he could gain enough cruelty charges to evade if I’m hitting him

    I wasn’t evading him. He was stun locked in the corner

    Possibly hitting too slow this has happened to me once or twice
    He definitely evaded. The green text popped up.

    Is his sig ability after hitting 7 cruelty charges. He evaded while he was not stun

    He also gains a cruelty whenever he changes stances and the node he has in AQ map 4 causes him to change stances every 6 seconds.
