What's prestige for?

I have seen a video from Seatin today, and if I leave aside all opinions on this youtuber, I am interested in prestige.

I know each champion's prestige is different and that there's list on auntmai, but of what use is it? Does it boost rewards or what? Thanks in advance

    It determines AQ difficulty and in turn score.

    Individual prestige doesn't do anything it's only use is making up the Alliance combined average prestige that determines the maximum score your team can achieve in AQ
