Moderate spender becoming free 2 play

DeliDeli Member Posts: 353 ★★★
I have been playing this game since it started. For the most part, I always was willing to spend a little bit since I enjoyed the game and it was the only one I played. I felt that there was real value for me to spend most of the time, (buy e refills and resources to push through content which gave me the items I was yearning for). However, this satisfaction is no longer there. With the state of the game, there appears to be no room for moderate spending. Buying resources to help me explore act 6 is pointless due to the randomness of the rewards. Why would I spend money to do that large of a grind to recieve an awake and rank up sources that most likely will be of no use for my roster? Cav Crystals also have no value to a moderate spender because the randomness and drop rates are too extreme. $100 equals 10 3*s & 4*s with a slight chance of a 5*. I do enjoy playing this game still and will continue playing. However I wont be spending. There is no room for moderate spending.

The majority of the game is based on RNG. That's not exclusive to Act 6. It's a game of RNG.

6*s are newer than 5*s were at the end of Act 5.

what i didnt like was that it was until after cyber monday/x mas offers were released that changes to namors were announced. Things like this should be mentioned beforehand as they factor into whether or not one will spend

That's not true. 5*'s were released November 2015. Act 5 finished 26 months later Jan 2018, just a little over 2 years.
6*'s were released same month, Jan 2018. Act 6 is finishing up 26 months later March 2020, just a little over 2 years.
You can't Max a 6* yet. They're newer in progression.

You said 6*'s were newer to 5*'s relative to the acts. They arent. They are the same. And yeah, you cant max 6*'s but 6* started at a higher progression relative to 5*'s to 4*'s so it's still the same. Each act has brought a new level of progression. Act 5=5/65, act 6=3/45.

They're not the same. 6*s have been paced out slower. Comparing CRs is not the same as looking at the introduction of Resources and how rare they are. I don't know why people are making a comparison like 6*s should be were 5*s were at the end of Act 5, but they're not pacing them the same. For all intents and purposes, they want Generic 6* Gems to be more rare than we saw Generic 5* Gems at the time.

Then I should elaborate on my wording in the future. Thanks for pointing it out.

I think kabam don’t want kill 5 star and not want just focus on 6 star until act7 relase

That's my guess. Explains why 6* 's started at one level of progression below a max 5*'s instead of 2 levels below like every other tier. Keeps the 5*'s relevant longer while still keeping 6*'s as the main source of progression for a longer time without having to introduce 7*'s anytime soon.

    I run two accounts
One buys the monthly unit card for $AUD7.99 (the one that pays out over the month 600 units with the 135 unit sign in bonus) and the other is 100% free to play

Both grind arena a little bit to earn units and buildup battlechips to then hopefully turn into more units on mass opening periods

Both then tend to spend the saved up units on the big special unit days like 4th July and CyberMonday.

That’s it. Everything else I earn via game play

I'd venture the same guess. They want to pace them out longer so 7*s are further down the road. It's also a way to buy the game more longevity in terms of progress.

I see what y’all is saying and I agree with most of it!
But to do what Kabam is doing on a monthly basis, take money lots of money, and we all know Marvel copyrights take most of it.
I hate RNG and I do hate a lot of what is going on now a days in MCOC, The way things are,I don’t want to spend money either.
I think Kabam also realizes, and are trying to make things better, but the have a quota too!

They are feeling the pinch too, they are releasing new events and quests, but the game is so popular, everything they release is being completed by the hardcore and the whales. They are trying to balance and keep everyone happy, and I bet they are understaffed just like any other company!
That being said I still don’t feel comfortable spending and I do see the F2P experience just disappearing in this game. I feel for both the players and Kabam, it’s a hard to balance and keep everyone happy 😊

I’m in pretty much the same exact spot and I’ll likely quit altogether pretty soon.

My spending has slowed considerably over the last couple months and every time I get weak and drop a few bucks on something it just feels gross.

Cheers and good luck to you.
As soon as you start mentally linking the dollar value of in-game items with real world counterparts you can purchase/enjoy for the same price, it’s difficult to avoid feeling nauseous when/if you spend.

Exhibit A: $50 Mojo preview package that nets a slew of 3*’s and instant regret could have been a decent (for me anyway) dinner with a couple of drinks. Or a few months of a streaming service. Or a couple of tanks of gas for the Subaru. Or...countless other things, none of them burdened by regret.
