Some Suggestions Brought Forth by the Chinese Community

WolfeWolfe Member Posts: 272 ★★
Hi Kabam,

I am Deus Wolfe from Taiwan. I have collated some suggestions which I feel would improve the game some slightly some tremendously from the Chinese players from Asia and would like to put them forward for your consideration:

1) Re-Roll Crystals
As content get more difficult, players want to feel that sense of satisfaction when they eventually pour units, time and effort into mastering these content. However the rewards on numerous occasions has let players down and on a whole, I am seeing the reluctance on my community's part with spending time or money on the newer content for RNG which may not work in their favor. Please don't get us wrong, most of us feel that the rewards thus far for the recent monthly events and 5.2/5.3 are alright but the randomness in these rewards take away the sense of accomplishment of actually completing these contents.

Proposal: Bundle in re-roll crystals which can be used on awakening gems and rank up gems with current offers. These offers can be offered once every few months with Odins or Black Panthers Chest. These would allow players to re-roll any existing gems that they have. Example I have a Cosmic five star awakening gem that I have no use for and I could use these crystals to re-roll it into something that is not cosmic as many times as I could whenever such a re-roll bundle offer comes out in the store. The same could be applied to rank-up gems and even T4 class catalysts.

2) A Chinese Forum
Most players from the Chinese community don't speak or understand English well and they are often out of the loop when it comes to the latest news or announcements. In fact during the recent bug in last month's monthly event quest that cause exploration rewards to be given out for a single run, some players thought that it was a special promotion from Kabam only to either find the rewards subsequently taken away or their accounts banned for 168 hours. We lost quite a few players (who departed our LINE chat group) who got frustrated and decided to quit the game. In fact, a lot of the alliances in the Chinese community are always lacking members because almost every month, they lose players who quit due to frustration. I do videos for the Chinese community but even I myself find it hard to keep up with the latest news or happenings because they tend to happen so fast and if not for the YouTubers out there who I subscribe to alerting me to the news via their videos, I wouldn't even be able to share such content with my community. We would appreciate if Kabam can do more for the Chinese speaking community. After all, the game was the number 1 grossing game in Taiwan and Hong Kong for numerous periods on Apple Store during the first few months but in the recent months, it has dipped considerably and players are reluctant to spend because they have absolutely no clue to what is going on.

Proposal: A Chinese forum would be the first stage and subsequently, good players from the Chinese community could be picked up by Kabam for the Contents Creator Program to promote the game in Asia.

3) Re-Work of the Existing Chinese Text in the Game
A lot of the translated text in character description and abilities make absolutely no sense in Chinese and are more often misleading or confusing. We totally understand that Kabam is base in the US and may not have the right people to do the translation but there are a lot of players in my community who have done the proper translations and posted these up as notes in our LINE groups. When doing videos for the Chinese community, I have choke a few times during my recordings reading out the Chinese phrases because they were grammatically wrong and I had to switch back to the English version and do my own translation in order to get the right information across to my viewers.

Proposal: Players in the community are more than willing to contribute to provide the right translations and if Kabam would engage us, we would be more than willing to help.

4) Working with Major Chinese Gaming Sites to Promote the Game
This is what we the seasoned players would like to see the most. The game has received close to no coverage on a local scale and it is purely via the word of mouth that we have manage to draw it new players. However, the lack of proper guides and tutorials make it hard to retain them and most end up playing for a month and then shelving the game because they simply have no clue as to how to progress from there. The existing AQ and AW format are intimidating and confusing to the newer players and alliances and they have no one to turn too leading to players quitting or simply giving up after a while. We are but a group of 200 people who found each other by word of mouth and there is only so much we can do. Without a proper working relationship with Kabam or at least some coverage by local gaming sites, we are unable to move forward and continue attracting new players to the game.

5) Bugs and Issues
This is the part that does not just concern the Chinese community but the entire MCOC community as a whole. The game is close to being 1 year old in Asia and over 2 years old in most parts of the world but it continue to be riddled by bugs and plagued by issues. Most of us play other games by local Chinese companies too and bugs are virtually unheard of and even if there is one, it would be fixed very fast. The recent server issues was also a major turn off especially for the Chinese community because unlike our English speaking counterparts, they do not have access to any avenue to find out what happen. Credit when its due because Kabam's strict no tolerance policies for hackers is what draw a lot of us to the game but the repeat bugs and server issues are of major concern to us. We really hope Kabam can take a step back and hold back on new content, fix ALL existing bugs and issues and give us a stable game to promote in our region before pushing out new content.

I am not sure whether this would end up getting read but I hope it does and improvements can be made to make our gaming experience with Kabam more enjoyable then what it currently is. Thank you for your time.

I actually agree that Rerolling is not a fair idea. That's the whole point of RNG. It's random. That's actually the fairest possible outcome. Not sure if the suggestion is coming from Chinese Players, or you're asking for the Feature for Chinese Players specifically. The Language and Forum suggestions are a good idea. Now, when you say working with Major Chinese Gaming Sites, are you referring to posting Drop Rates?

Not sure why it shows that the Admin and Mod commented. Lol.

I am sure the administrators know where to find us if they need to talk to us. @GroundedWisdom your reference to the drop rates implies that you lack knowledge on the Chinese community as a whole because Chinese does not mean just China. Malaysia Chinese players, Macau players, Hong Kong players, Taiwan players are all Chinese players. Being Chinese does not mean we are from China and we have no interest on knowing the odds of the drop rates and I did not make any indication of that. Also, questioning me on whether my suggestion comes from me or the Chinese community is questioning my integrity. I am easily one of the biggest spender in my community, the only MCOC YouTuber who does videos in Chinese, work with the leaders of the top 5 Taiwanese alliances in my country and the only Legend title holder in the whole Taiwan. My alliance is part of the ISO8 family of alliances and if you doubt my credibility, feel free to search for GMT8A and LJ198 which are the top ranking alliances in Taiwan and speak to them on your own. I created this thread to voice opinions from my community and just FYI, I have done interviews with various alliances and their members and posted the videos are on my YouTube channel so if you have doubts, find a Mandarin speaking friend and head over to my channel and get him/her to interpret the content for you.

I do not need a reply from any moderators or administrators. If they feel any of the suggestions are worth taking a look at, I am sure they would consider them. If not its all good.

PS: Heres the link to my channel but like I said, you need someone who can speak my language to translate the content for you: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3FH5OHFc7SaR5eoJ8Rk2WA?view_as=subscriber

What Chinese law? We are not from China so we wouldn't know. I suggest that prior to your future postings, you do a bit of research first before you comment because it is offensive to us that you would pass such remarks without even knowing where we are from. The fact that you end your post with laughing out loud offends me even more because we are players who spend a lot of time, effort and money on the game. We are not demanding for stuff. We are asking for our voices to be heard. Is this funny to you or does it seem like one big joke that you can just laugh off?

"Working with Major Chinese Gaming Sites".....how would that be an offensive connection to make? It really wasn't personal. I laughed because it's an expression. Not laughing at you.

Just check your profile and realize you have over 2000 flags. Not sure if you are forum troll or people just plainly dislike you but I think I can understand why. Not interested in discussing anything with you. Anyway I've surfaced what I want to put forth and it is up to the administrators to consider so there is not much more for me to say. Have a nice day.

My Profile is not the subject of the Thread. It's clear that my words are being twisted. This is not our first conversation. I was asking genuine questions. Good luck with your suggestions.

Always like hearing what other groups of players out side the US say

Does kabam not have any community advisor for China?

Great post Wolfe. We would all love them to fix the bugs. The bugs are taking over the game.

Aside from #1, these are all valid points and suggestions that should be implemented, although #4 is a bit confusing... Perhaps if you explained a bit more?

@HeroBoltsy there are a lot of giant gaming sites in Hong Kong and Taiwan that regularly features mobile, PC and console games. An example would be this Taiwan gaming site call Bahamut forums. In the early stages where MCOC got launched in Taiwan, the first players went there to circulate information about the game. I found out that there were Taiwanese players playing the game from there. However it is hard for players to carry on hyping up the game with no support or help from Kabam. The general consensus from most Chinese players from my region (outside of Mainland China) is the feeling of neglect and most are out of touch with what is happening with the game and rely on 1 or 2 players (one of them being me) who speak and write fluent English to translate content for them. However this is tiring for us because we have commitments outside of the game we need to attend to as well. It will be easier if Kabam could just contact these sites directly to do some sort of promotion or feature to further promote the game in our region.

Hey don't the chinese community know the actual real percentage chance of a crystal roll? I thought it was a legal requirement in China. It's always been a mystery to us in the rest of the world.

Like I told that other guy, we are not from China. What happens in Mainland China does not concern the rest of us. Not all Chinese are from China. Please at least get that part correct.
  • Lmao did kabam ever take time to look after there players outside Europe and us

    I'm hoping they would

Well, what "the other guy" was eluding to is that in order to use said Chinese Gaming Sites, the App has to be approved through the current regulations which at the moment, includes publishing Drop Rates. Unless those Chinese Gaming Sites are not based out of China, in which case different regulations may apply.

I think these are good ideas but Kabam should continue their focus on the important game development like 6* champions and Act 5.4.

Maybe hire a few chinese to deal with the china people problem separately.

Your the one being offensive and attacking other players for no reason at all. The poster you mention also has 2000+ likes etc, but you ignore that fact. Not that any of this matters to this thread anyway, so the only reason you brought it up was to offend another player

The questions he asked were well thought out, well worded and relevant to the thread. He did nothing wrong

Stop with the personal attacks and stop looking for offence were there isnt any

I'm not Chinese, but I live in China.

There's no difference in the game in China from America, other than it putting the prices in the Unit store in RMB.

It seems that you think you have a bigger voice than others because you are a whale. Don't think your opinion matters more because you have a fatter bank account. Everyone is entitled to a opinion. I have never posted on the forums before but seen this and had to say something as you don't need to attack people who don't agree with you.

    About your points:

    1) Re-Roll Crystals
Sounds like a good money-making idea, Kabam may really consider this. But not in the near future, they have enough to deal with now.

    2) A Chinese Forum
The game is US -based, I believe they do not have any foreseeable plans to expand their operations to China/ Taiwan/ HK or even any office in Asia for that matter. Because maintaining a Chinese Forum will require a team of people who are highly proficient in Chinese, this will be highly unlikely. (If they wanted to do it, they would have already done it when they launched the Chinese version of MCOC a while back).

    3) Re-Work of the Existing Chinese Text in the Game
About this, you can actually just submit tickets to Kabam to suggest which words you think are wrong and need to change. You may get some generic reply in return, but at least they would have taken it into account and maybe work on it when they have the time - ie. fixed all the major issues happening right now.

    4) Working with Major Chinese Gaming Sites to Promote the Game
Similar to Point 2, Kabam would have already done it if they wanted to, with the Chinese version of the game a while back. Since they didn't, you can bet it's not in their cards.

    5) Bugs and Issues
This point I believe the whole MCOC community agrees with. There are just a lot of bugs every where right now, but they only have so many people in their bug-fixing team. That calls for prioritization, so my guess is:
Priority no. 1: Fix it now if it gives an unfair advantage to players and significantly reduces players buying items
Priority no 2: Fix it if it gives an unfair advantage to players, although no disruption to revenue-making
Priority no. 3: Fix it if the bug causes a disadvantage to players, with reduced revenues
Priority no. 4: Fix it if the bug causes a disadvantage to players, no disruption to revenues
Priority no. 5: The bug causes a disadvantage to players, but allows Kabam to earn more when they are forced to buy items.... Fix this only when they have nothing else better to do and do it slowly.

LOL. Not actually a dig at Kabam, but that list sounds about right.
