Cap IW, stopping the unstoppable (sometimes?)

I have noticed that Captain America Infinity War does not stop Sasquatch when he is unstoppable.
What gives?
It is impossible to know under what conditions Cap should be able to stop the unstoppable.
Please clarify.

Cap IW nullifies unstoppable buffs.
Sasquatch doesn't trigger any unstoppable buff, but rather a passive unstoppable.
Cap IW can't nullify it due to not being a buff
I don’t like it. If a champ can stop unstoppable, it should just work. Regardless if Passive or buff.
Also, the format and border of the icons under the HP bar will tell you if something is active or passive. White border means active (buffs and debuffs), and no border means passive
Thing is immune to nullify.
And Annihilus’s rod acts as sacrificial protection.
But it’s all there in the ability descriptions.
This is what CAIW says
100% chance to Nullify Unstoppable Buffs on hit.
This is what bigfoot says:
During Wrath of Tanaraq Sasquatch becomes Passively Unstoppable during Special and Heavy Attacks and the Opponent’s Defensive Combat Power Rate is reduced by 70% when struck by these Attacks.
Your logic is not sound, he cannot nullify unstoppable, only unstoppable buffs.
I remember this being a big discussion on the forums a few event quests back after he came into the game. They immediately brought in a champ In the next event quest where he could not stop the “unstoppable”.
But don’t worry they will soon invent a champion who does.
On the whole, the purpose of something being Passive is precisely so that it isn't subject to external influence.
So you can't shrug passives
You can't nullify passives
You can't extend or reduce their duration with champs like Rogue.
You can't remove Passive armour with Armour Break*
* unless the champ's design specifically says so, like KM and IMIW. But try it with Civil Warrior...
Oddly, the only exception to this (so far) is that Passive Unstoppable can be removed by She-Hulk's Heavy attack.
- Spider-Man (Stealth Suit) : Using the Web-Foam Cartridge he can apply Slow Debuff
- Spider-Gwen : Via her heavy attack she can apply a Slow Debuff
- Sorcerer Supreme : Using Runes of Ikonn, she can apply a Slow Debuff
- She-Hulk (as previously mentioned above) : Via her heavy attack can apply Slow Debuff
- Red Guardian : Via Special 1 can apply a Slow Debuff and can refresh it via Heavy attack once applied
I think that about rounds out the list of champs that (currently) can handle Passive Unstoppable. Again, as previously mentioned like any Passive, be it Unstoppable, Fury, Cruelty, Armor, etc they cannot be Nullified. Thing is an odd exception as his Unstoppable isn't Passive, but he himself is Nullify Immune, and thus requires a Slow Debuff to shutdown his Unstoppable. CAIW's ability to Nullify Unstoppable when Kinetically Charged is a grand thing, but always good to be aware of what kind of abilities you're up against. There's a lot of little details that can potentially counter your planned counter.
You've missed a subtle point: I wasn't making a list of champs who can apply a Slow debuff. In fact I didn't even mention She-Hulk's Slow debuff.
A Slow debuff (whilst active) can prevent an Unstoppable passive or buff from activating in the first place (doing this via AAR). What they can't do is remove an Unstoppable Passive that's already activated.
She-Hulk's Heavy Attack itself has the ability to remove an Unstoppable passive that's already in effect. That's what's unique about it.
My understanding was active buffs were (in a sense) a result of a power, whereas passive are just part of who the character is.
For example, armor up buffs are a result of a characters specific power pertaining to creating armor, but a passive armor buff would be like colossus, who is literally made of armor and therefore shouldn’t be able to be nullified.
How Sasquatch could passively be unstoppable doesn’t really make sense. If anyone should be passively unstoppable, it should be the unstoppable Juggernaut, but even that is the result of his power.
We of course can read the character’s profile to make sense of it all, but they seem to bending their own rules (again).
To instantly disprove your explanation: Iron Man Infinity War generates Armour passives, whilst Colossus generates buffs.
Colossus's buffs can be nullified, IMIW's can't.
To further confuse this example:
Colossus has immunity to armour break (vs non-tech opponents)
IMIW has a specific vulnerability to Armour Break, in that it removes stacks of his Passive armour.
Compare those two champs to the oft-derided Civil Warrior: He generates Armour buffs, which can be either broken or nullified. He can also fuse those buffs into Armour Passives, which can be neither broken nor Nullified. Once he's generated those, they're genuinely permanent.
So Passive vs Active isn't about where the ability comes from; it's just about how external forces interact with that ability.
champion descriptions state things like active ability of buffs / debuffs.
if you read the abilities of champs you can see if the either have buffs or passives and you can see if their abilities affect buffs or passives.
buffs can be nullified and staggered, passives can not be.
buffs and debuffs are easily visualized in game by having a white circle around the icon
passives abilities are visualized by a solid coloured icon.
but yeah read the champs abilities and you will see things like CapIW says "nullify unstoppable buffs" therefore he will only work on buffs not passives.
if the word buff is used it is only or affects only abilities shown with a white circle around them.
so yeah CapIW will always stop the unstoppable provided he is kinetically charged and the unstoppable is a buff.
if either of these conditions is untrue he cannot stop the unstoppable as he requires the charge to do so and only buffs an be nullified.
