Someone told me that you can get the rewards from the gift now so I opened it and got coal. Am i going to miss out on anything? it says holidy magic can fix it but do I get reduced rewards?

Probably reduced yes. Also, don’t trust internet people, especially when it goes against what the in game message (and common sense) says.

Actually you should ask that "someone", he is the origin. Why open it when in-game email ask you not to open until Christmas?
