RNG vs. Choice?

Title says the question, what would you prefer?
Current state where shards are common, but you are subject to randomness
Being able to choose champions, but at much higher cost (or with far less available shards)? Ecample of this would be a shop with lets say 6* Ghost for 150k shards, or 6* Drax for 5k shards
I am really curious what would people prefer: fast gamble or slow as hell certanity?

However, every other day I see people conplaining abozt how rng is unfair and bad, so I made this poll to find out if people would prefer other system, or if they are just plainly whining
Where you could, over a 3-6 month period save up for a specific champion. The challenge is that ghost, doom, quake, bwcv, aegon, Nick, Omega, apok and perhaps cgr and maybe one or two others would be all anyone goes for.
Which would completely shift progression in the game....
But(!!!)
Perhaps that would finally galvanise some genuine creativity from kabam in the game,l.. Rather than the mind numbing focus on monetising gambling mechanics and associated manipulation of psychological responses (dopamine rush, illusion of control) from the player base, that makes those players "feed the beast".
When you are opening a crystal, the unpredictability makes it more fun, although sometimes it's dissapointing.
If you know what are you going to get, then it will take away all the fun.
But some events like Deadpool island, Joe fixit store, etc were some predictable event which also needs to be happened in the game after few month to assure some rewards.
A blend of the two elements is necessary, in my opinion. What is interesting to me is how often things that are “steady grind” get criticized on forums. Examples would include the recent anniversary arenas (grindy, yes, but also rewarding) or special quests that require waiting week over week to complete (always get complaints that waiting is hard).
Limiting the pool of options—or allowing players to amass shards to limit the option pool—is good. The Epoch shards are a fair example, although I’d like to see still more options (Legendary or Nexus Epoch crystals for 9K shards, for example).
Dual Class 5* crystals go a little this way, although they’ve never worked out for me. Basically, anything that puts a little more control in the hands of the player is an improvement. I doubt the pRNG element ever goes away because it makes $$$, but reducing its rough edges through choice would be a good thing.

Do you wanna go back tk 2017/2018 when 8/10 summoners brought ghost rider blade and stark to war?
