Don't open Nexus T5CC crystals

T5CC fragment selectors are one of the most valuable items in the game right now, they are hugely rare and can only be found in a few places in the game: Act 6, Act 7 and occasional events/offers that come around. It is so hard to target a specific class of T5CC that you could find yourself holding out to explore Act 7.1 just to wait until you are 75% of a particular class, and in that way, guarantee forming 100%. The main con of selectors are that you have to open them right away, and can't hold on until you need them.
I think the update to cavalier EQ has revolutionised obtaining Rank 3 6*, and therefore getting Thronebreaker. It may seem like a small update, but getting 10% of 1 of 3 classes and being able to choose which one is huge! It may not be as reliable as a selector, but the ability to hoard 10% crystals is huge. With a 50% chance to get the class you want, they have the same sort of value as a 5% selector. (when considering your preferred class).
However, I think a lot of people will be jumping to open the 10% nexus and hope for one of the classes that they may be 20-50% away from. And I think that is a bad call. In this game, and of course in real life, it's better to make decisions when you have all the information possible. I think saving T5CC nexus crystals until you are within forming one is a very clear good choice.
Lets say you have 40% skill and 30% Science as your highest two. Sure, you could open the nexus now and go for skill, you're closer after all, but you're ignoring the future possibility of getting science fragments more often out of the non-nexus crystals, the 5 2% we get from side event for example. Or you could even not get skill from the nexus, and decide to go for science instead. You could find yourself with 90% of a science, and you're only on 50% skill. And wouldn't it have been useful to open that nexus crystal now and choose science?
If people decide to go for nexus crystals when you're not able to form from them, you're ignoring your future RNG. You are much better off hoarding 5 10% T5CC nexus until you get to 50%, or 4 10% until you get to 60% so on and so forth. Over time you can open up all the fully chance ones and see where you stand. Just think of it like a normal crystal opening, but stretched over time. With one nexus champion crystal and one regular crystal, you open the regular first- so you have all the information you need. You don't want to choose BWCV from the nexus first, and then get her again from the next crystal. It's the same concept here.
So I think it's clear that waiting is the best choice. Wait until you get within the possibility that you could open all your nexus and get the same class in all of them and form your class. When that happens there are two possibilities. Scenario 1: you get the desired from each one, woohoo, formed. Or Scenario 2, the first time you don't get your desired class, stop opening them (requires Willpower level 4 I know). You could find yourself on 70% in that class, with 2 left, but those 2 can't get you to 100%. You're back to the same situation as before. So wait that extra time, wait until you get another nexus, or open another regular T5CC frag crystal, and re-assess when the time comes again.
TL:DR gather all your information before opening Nexus fragment crystals, 10% of a skill cat now to get you to 50% doesn't help one bit if you get to 90% on a science before you form that skill. Hold out until the % of a T5CC you can get equals the difference of what you currently have. I.e. 60% of a skill means wait until you have 4 10% nexus'
There should probably be a little postscript after that title just to say unless you're close..

Random class is first, it doesn't matter how many frags of each class you have, you can't control the outcome.
Then nexus, you need the information from the randoms to open these the most informed way.
Then selectors, with a guarantee of the class you want, these are the best and you want to have your decision informed by the nexus and the random. You wouldn't want to select skill from a selector and then have it pop up in the nexus.
We will see if I can take my own advice...
Sorry Brian.
I can’t say I wouldn’t be absolutely tempted to do the same as you, but I know it’s still possible to just not get those last frags.
Best of luck forming it! Who have you got in mind?
I always have 1 of each class ready to be ranked up with rare resources. I believe it’s better to mange your rank ups then crystals.
Just like @Masterpuff I need mystic t5cc. This won’t change much from now till the end of anything. I’ve got 3 mystics I can take up to r3. Cvbw, maw and sorcerer. While I have less options (but still 1) for the other classes.
Also not big on hoarding. Pop em if you got em.
When I ranked my Doom it was him, Loki or Ebony Maw. Easy enough to choose.
(Sorry @will-o-wisp)
