    The main reason a lot of top players have him ranked up is for prestige. But his damage and utility is pretty good too.

    He is very interdasting some Nodes can make him god tier
    His damage is decent
    He has a lot of buffs
    He has good utility

    Surfer is used more than his fellow herald, Cosmic Ghost Rider, in a ton of content - most recently 7.1 and 7.2 - and many champs that people would classify higher.

    He’s becoming more and more relevant in the game. The fact that he doesn’t crit for 400k is mainly why people dismiss him.
