Why are cavalier crystal shards not available for cavaliers?

Yesterday I achieved cavalier milestone. I was expected to get cavalier crystal shards as I expected.But to my surprise I received grandmaster crystal shards.Why?

    just a thing that everyone just considers taboo i guess. i mean it's honestly not bad to have 2 grandmasters every 2 weeks rather than one cav

    Because it’s free, so you only get them for free once you’ve surpassed it. Makes sense personally.
