We're heading into the last 5 minutes of this session. I will have to return @Kabam John to the game team to continue the important work he does everyday.
Note that any questions that come in after 12pm (PT) may be answered at a later time today if John has another moment to pop into this thread. We will be closing this thread at 3pm (PT).
Thank you to all who have taken the time to join us in this AMA. Thank you to those who have been respectful and fair in your participation today. We enjoy interacting with you all and we hope you enjoy this mode of interaction as well. Your kindness and support makes it easy for us to do the things we do, and allows us to offer up more of these experiences to you all!
TTFN, folks!
Please do as many of these QandA sessions as you can, they’re great!
Is " Reduce purify chance" like that of Omega Red and " reduce purify Ability accuracy " like Apocalypse , the same? It currently functions the same. Is it intended?
We've seen a few other reworks come out recently that have a ton of healing, compared to guillotine. Was this considered when making her buff?: I can't say it wasn't considered haha. The biggest concern with guillotines regen for me was it's always on effect. I was fairly reserved with her tuning because she unlike most characters can regen from anything. I would say that was the biggest factor in her healing ending up in a different state than the other characters .
Next time we should vote for a buff concept. For example Juggernaut will get a buff so we could vote for one of the 3 buff concepts. One will focus on attack, second on defense and third one 50\50. IMO.
My last question would be is it possible to open threads for each champion projected for buffs and ask the community what issues they have when playing the champion, and what parts of the champion would they feel is most important to their kit and would need to remain.
Just so you guys doing the buffs can get a quick, accessible brainstorm for each champ you’re going to be buffing at some point.
It doesn’t even need to give away what the buffs will be in the future, (so we wouldn’t have needed a nebula and Karnak thread 4 months ago). Even just opening 5 threads on the suggestion and feedback section a month, and letting us drop our feedback there would be perfect. Then remove it the next month and replace for 5 more.
Obviously just an example, but I think this sort of thing could be very useful!

This is a really good idea! I would love to see this happen for future buffs.
I appreciate the effort here, but this was wholly unsatisfying and raised more questions that it provided answers.
If they continue this in the future, I'd say some constructive criticism is to stay on topic. Seemed like ~half the questions that were picked weren't specifically related to the gilly buff at all.
Guillotine's new kit is paying a large homage to her old kit. We wanted to make sure we didn’t remove the key pieces she brought to the table. One of the biggest goals was an easy-to-understand, new player-friendly kit. Contest in general at the higher levels have gotten Uber complicated, which is a lot of fun once you know what you’re doing but can be pretty scary for learning. We wanted Guillotine to be easy to pick up and understand while making her more valuable than her old version for most players choosing to use her.
But this buff *didn’t* maintain her old simplicity. She used to be a “hit the opponent and then also hit the opponent and then after that keep hitting the opponent” style of champion. Now she is a heavy spam, resource management champion who has less healing and at best comparable damage.
And also a Pain Split mechanic that nobody seems to want to talk about because it’s actually worthless for anything meaningful except for being a mild inconvenience for attackers bringing Human Torch against her.
EDIT: Additional thoughts because this is really bugging me now. I saw multiple people ask the question “where can I bring post-buff Guillotine that I couldn’t bring her before? In what content is she now relevant where she wasn’t previously?”
This question, which gets right to the meat of the issue with this buff and all buffs, remains unanswered. It’s the primary thing a 200+ comment thread has been trying to figure out for over a month now. What was the point of her buff? I guess we’ll never know now, because our window for questions is closed.
Has there been any Thoughts on doing Themed Rework Months occasionally, or do you see that as too limiting? So for example when you get around to Reworking a couple of the OG Champions, there could be a Month where you give Groot an Overhaul and Rocket Raccoon a Moderate. (Doesn't have to Just be the OGs, another month have Beast get an Overhaul and Nightcrawler a Tune Up)
Thoughts on doing theme'd rework months?: This is 100% something we've considered and even tried a few times. A lot of the time the difficulty with it is that the rework/updates team is on a different timeline than the rest of the character teams so it can be hard to line everyone up. It's for sure something we're always considering though!
More open communication about upcoming buffs and who's being picked: This is something we'll be looking into as well! I'd love to have things in the player's hands early and have a more open process around making changes before they're out in the wild. Still in the early stages on anything related but its 100% something that we're interested in and investigating actively.
Hey Folks, Thanks for all the feedback and for dropping by with your questions. Sorry if I wasn't able to get to everyone. We'll hopefully be doing another one of these in the future. For the time being, I'll be watching like a hawk on all of Guillotine's data and let you all know some specifics around her changes at a later date. Until then keep an eye out for future reworks!

1) they might change gilly a bit, but not much
Did I miss anything?
