The game is 8 years old, so it’s natural to start losing the experienced players. The game already demands so much of your time. I’m not sure more content will plug the leaking of experienced players.
So 4 months without any meaningful content is acceptable? Nice.
We had Variant 8 in that time as well. But if you’re meaning story content then yes, because that is the timeline they gave us back when Act 7 was first releasing of one new chapter every 6 months, which they have delivered on so far. Not really sure what new content you’re expecting to get based on the precedent they’ve set over the years with things like LoL and AoL being spaced years apart, or things like the Gauntlet or the Maze which happen once a year, or even Summer of Pain which was delayed by a year.
4 months really isn’t anything new to be waiting for more content.
I feel like people forget that the endgame doesn’t account for the majority of players. “We need more [Endgame] content” is a very different discussion than just content in general. Kabam has launched Monthly Event Quests (with rotating buffs for Cav difficulty) and relatively unique side quests each month with a number of related objectives. They have done things like the gifting event, Chinese New Year, and other content that often goes unappreciated. Sure, it has been a little while since new story content or Gauntlet/SOP stuff, but that takes a lot longer to pu together, and they are already working on so many other things.
7.4 should be about a month away if they’re on their usual schedule, Battlegrounds is coming out soon, plus they’re still working on improving the constant bugs which takes a considerable amount of energy and many people would prefer to be fixed before the next Everest content drop.
For me it’s more about the lack of info for upcoming content. We have act 7.4 dropping at some point and battlegrounds soon.
There’s no meaningful information on future content. It might be because they don’t want to provide information that has content and timelines until parry/dex bug is fixed. But either way it would be nice to know what there is to look forward to over 2022 into 2023.

Yes, it is. You have monthly temporary content, seasons of AW and also AQ to keep you occupied. On top of that you can push incursions if you want. I don't even mention stuff like Abyss, because I assume you got that explored (I have 0 doubts and I believe you )
Permanent content added is pretty rare in most games, so it makes sense to add it slowly and not spit out permanent stuff like a conveyor belt.

Definitely feels like a chore, a lot of my ally mates skip even eq exploration
