I’ve been thinking about Variant content lately, and I’m just wondering what the future is for them. The content itself has always been fun, but obviously we’re at a point with them where they need to be updated to the next level. As it stands now, Variant is to Bridge the gap in Cavalier, but that title is now 2 progressions behind. So what does the next iteration of variant content look like?
I would say instead of rank 4->5 they should include rank 1->2 gems for explore. And the completion ones just up them. So usually they have 3->4 make those 4->5. Just increase it 1 from what they already are. Increase the shards 25% and add some t5cc frags. I don’t think the content is hard enough to merit much else in terms of high value 6 star rank up materials.
What type of rewards would be good now? Can’t be overtop either

I imagine they’re among some of the least played content in the game. Horrible energy requirements for obviously bad rewards, and nostalgia isn’t enough of a reason to burn time on it. But the difficulty of variant hasn’t scaled, and seeing a new “Variant 2” difficulty would be much appreciated

Oh and sometimes they drop revives as well.
Regardless of things like "Will the difficulty/rewards increase?", I'd just like to know if another Variant is planned? Last year, I feel like there was a plan laid out with three different Variants. This year, not a peep. As far as I'm aware, we don't even know which EQ they'd remodel. It's a shame because at least V6 and V7 were some of the most fun content in the game at the time so I would very much like to get something similar. Even V8 had its moments even if my enjoyment was cut short by simply not having any champions that could deal any damage whatsoever. I wouldn't mind an increase in difficulty and some better rewards, but part of me also enjoys cheesing through that type of content.I do echo the sentiment that the Classic difficulty could be scrapped, though. It's just bad. There is nothing worthwhile for anyone there. Sure, you can burn a ton of energy for some paltry rewards but I'd much rather have Variant and Variant+ difficulty. Or maybe some Thronebreaker objectives for Variant content, similar to the Carina Challenges?
If the difficulty matches V2-V7... rewards are fine.If it resembles V1 or V8... need to go up.Optinally, Kabam could also add a 3rd "paragon difficulty" to all the existing variants, adding PI, and say a global... and a new round of buffed rewards... enough to even keep the die hard youtubers busy for a week or so.
Yeah Variant 9 will offer 18k tier 5 basic and rank 4 to 5 5* which is totally useless. But it's permanent content so you have to explore it. Nice job Kabam.
I still laugh how after v8 rewards were announced that Kabam responded that variants weren't end game content anymore then v8 was released and there were nonstop complaints how hard it was. Hopefully kabam decided to resolve the inconsistency. Either tone it back to original V2 - v7 difficulty or greatly increase the rewards and keep at v8 difficulty.
