Variant 9 Update?

    Yeah Variant 9 will offer 18k tier 5 basic and rank 4 to 5 5* which is totally useless. But it's permanent content so you have to explore it. Nice job Kabam.

    I would say instead of rank 4->5 they should include rank 1->2 gems for explore. And the completion ones just up them. So usually they have 3->4 make those 4->5. Just increase it 1 from what they already are. Increase the shards 25% and add some t5cc frags. I don’t think the content is hard enough to merit much else in terms of high value 6 star rank up materials.

    I do think that this is a pretty fair increase although I think it would be nice if more Content came with specific Solo Objectives that could be used to reward a small amount of Rank 4 Materials. They don't always have to be Carina's level of difficulty but they also don't have to be as rewarding. When it comes to Variant specifically, the Objectives could even be a little bit more quirky as well since that is generally the theme of the content.

    They can't increase variant rewards by very much without increasing difficulty. Unless they add a third endgame difficulty, were stuck with these rewards. The variants are targetted towards newly cav players. Helps expand the roster and get rank up gems.

    I feel like variant initial clear should have a defined "easy path" to be easy enough for cavs to push for TB but the exploration should be catered to TB/Paragon players with more developed rosters. Initial clear rewards are alright for the difficulty considering most developed players do their initial clear on day 1/2 but exploration takes a little more effort. If the Exploration rewards get scaled properly I think variant 9 could be the direction for TB's pushing for Paragon even if it's only a little t6b and t3a. Every little bit counts

    Agree, except I’d honestly just bin the Classic Version. I imagine they’re among some of the least played content in the game. Horrible energy requirements for obviously bad rewards, and nostalgia isn’t enough of a reason to burn time on it.

    But the difficulty of variant hasn’t scaled, and seeing a new “Variant 2” difficulty would be much appreciated

    Nice stack of units and mastery cores for someone with plenty of energy to autofight through. Oh and sometimes they drop revives as well.

    You obviously haven't looked at the more recent ones as they haven't had Mastery Cores for ages. Also getting 20 units for hundreds of energy does not make it worth doing. Having revives also doesn't necessarily make Exploring the content worth it, it just makes running a specific Chapter a good idea. They should definitely reduce the energy cost to 1 per tile for all classic version of Variant. I don't really understand who the content is for if they don't.

    Regardless of things like "Will the difficulty/rewards increase?", I'd just like to know if another Variant is planned? Last year, I feel like there was a plan laid out with three different Variants. This year, not a peep. As far as I'm aware, we don't even know which EQ they'd remodel.

    It's a shame because at least V6 and V7 were some of the most fun content in the game at the time so I would very much like to get something similar. Even V8 had its moments even if my enjoyment was cut short by simply not having any champions that could deal any damage whatsoever.

    I wouldn't mind an increase in difficulty and some better rewards, but part of me also enjoys cheesing through that type of content.

    I do echo the sentiment that the Classic difficulty could be scrapped, though. It's just bad. There is nothing worthwhile for anyone there. Sure, you can burn a ton of energy for some paltry rewards but I'd much rather have Variant and Variant+ difficulty. Or maybe some Thronebreaker objectives for Variant content, similar to the Carina Challenges?

    I'm personally hoping for them to redo the Civil War EQ for the next Variant considering the Team Cap and Team Iron Man tags did resurge at some point I can't help but feel like they had it planned down the pipeline.

    A lot of us who aren’t diehard youtubers also want to stay busy for a week.

    But thing is you can’t really keep variants the same if you’re planning on keeping them around. Roster progression is so much quicker now than back when they were introduced

    why does it being permanent content mean you "have" to explore it? Some people haven't and may never explore variant 1. It's there if you want it when you want it, but you don't "have" to explore it.

    Hopefully kabam decided to resolve the inconsistency. Either tone it back to original V2 - v7 difficulty or greatly increase the rewards and keep at v8 difficulty.

    To be fair, outside of one broken boss that they nerfed, the difficulty was more because of roster limitations than actual challenge that the content truly was. I muscled through with Rank 1 6 Stars but for the people who actually had one of the characters as a 5/65 or a Rank 3, they didn't seem to complain nearly as much.
