Where's the love for Howard the Duck?

I recently pulled him as a 6* and been having fun with him and feel like he should get more attention. Sure, he's useless on stun immune nodes and limber but otherwise he hits like a truck and has decent utility with power suppression, heal block, bleed immunity, armor up and armor break. Since I already have a duped Nimrod at rank 3, I'm now considering taking HtD to rank 3 since I don't really need a tech rank up. Feel like his buff isn't mentioned enough as a success story

I really love him too (did before his buff as well but that’s irrelevant), some solid dmg and utility in his kit. Great champ all around

I like him most for the insane amount of (armor up / fury) buffs and debuffs he has.

With a single point of despair he has two ways to heal block (incase immune to regen rate)

And he’s great for any node that enhances/needs buffs

Does Howard the Duck needs awakening?

@PapaMidnite007 I wouldn't invest stones in him, but a single awakening is good for the increase in ability accuracy. Makes him another good counter for champs like Domino.

He definitely doesn't need to be high sig though, and I wouldn't invest a gem in him. Getting that first time dupe to awaken is definitely helpful though.

Thanks @mgj0630 I have an unawakened 6 star for now

@PapaMidnite007 he's worth some investment even unawakened in my opinion. I took my 6* to r2 unawakened. I've since duped him, and constantly flirt with the notion of taking him to r3.

He can double as an annoying war defender on some of the nodes depending on your tier. The far right group middle lane that is buff dependent gives a nice curve ball to the typical cosmic champs. Also the left group, right lane, that deals massive bleed based on armor ups can be a good alternative to the typical Colossus placement.

I haven't come across it yet, but I'm confident there will be a piece I'd content where he shines based on the variety of buffs and debuffs he can apply, in conjuction with other parts of his kit.

I have an unduped, unranked 6*. To sell me on his greatness and convince me to bring him up, what are the high points of his plausible? Is there a particular rotation or set of rotations that works best? Synergies or anything like that that really keys him up?

Synergies don’t do the most for him (some random utility, but that’s about it), not much in the way of rotation either except for parry, heavy, sp2/3 (and mashing the block button if you don’t use auto mash). It takes a little bit to ramp him up, but not a overly strenuous amount (and it’s very rewarding when you do get him there). While he may not be the best tech there is, he’s definitely up there and fun to play

Is there a big difference between going auto mash vs manual?

Most notably you will see increased armor up buffs and suppression debuffs.

Sometimes it’s fun just to tap the screen as much as I do when the game is loading.

If you can tap your screen really fast there's no difference at all. That said, you want to enable the pre-fight auto masher every time. It just guarantees you'll get all the buffs/debuffs possible out of him.

If you were forced to use him on a node that punished buffs, then obviously not turning on the auto masher would be a good idea, but I'm not sure what that scenario would be.

There is a small benifit if you can tap really fast
