Early Progression Battlegrounds

Is it worth trying to get into battlegrounds at low level? Im recently uncollected and BG offers tons of 5* shards and rank up mats but I need 30 campions for it. Iso aside I have no idea how I would get the t3 basic needed to rank up that many 4*s and as I know they wont be relevant for that much longer all things considered so... is it even worth bothering? do I just ignore the gamemode entirely till Im thronebreaker?

    You can do 3* champs. You'll get the occasional sandbagger but you still should be able to progress
