How is BG Matchmaking still this broken?

Matchmaking = matching players of equal roster caliber to enjoy head to head game play.

I am making my way through diamond enjoying (finally) some match making that’s actually giving fair matchups where skill prevails (though I’m still smaller than all these “wins”). I’m quickly on my way to next tier and didn’t use a shield. Kabam says silly GeneralMerce! They matched me with a player that clearly has nothing “similar” to my account to keep me from the next level. Is their intent to keep us spending units on shields? This is why this game mode isn’t living up to the potential

Get over it, everyone has to match with bigger accounts. That’s part of the game mode.

Were you planning to make it all the way to number 1 in the world matching only accounts like yours? Matchmaking is bad but for the exact opposite reason you’re complaining about

Matchmaking = matching players in the same tier that are looking for a match at the same time.
If it didn’t work this way and only worked off of roster strength, which should be part of it, then you’d eventually never get another match again until other players your size can catch up. The higher you progress the tougher it should get because that’s where the bigger accounts are likely to be. You’re playing for a chance at the same rewards as everyone else, which means it is completely fair to have a chance at competing against anyone else. If you’re at the point where you can’t progress, then you’ve hit your cap of how far you can go.

...it is one loss lol just not really a great matchmaking experience when getting out matched by someone immediately making skill no longer relevant.

Once you reach Diamond you should be prepared to face anyone in that tier

You don't deserve to move up if you can't beat people in your same tier.

Matchmaking honestly feels really good right now. There are obviously going to be some outliers because people do have to be in or very close to your tier and actively queueing at that exact moment and sometimes a perfect match isn't available. I think a really nice change would be to tweak the Victory Track so that it is also using a rating system similar to Gladiator Circuit. Once they have that figured out, you can properly offer more and less rating per match given how you matchup with your opponent, similar to how it works in War. Obviously these differences would be based on BG rating and not TBH or Prestige but it would help. Going up against a better player won't be the cause of as much frustration if you get a little more for winning against them and lose a little less when you are defeated.

But it’s currently not working like that.
You can’t match any of the accounts in the same tier as you, since Kabam had the stupid idea to bring back Prestige matchmaking.
Yes the most unfair matchmaking system they could come up with.
Currently small accounts are climbing way higher than they should, having a free pass to GC and ranked rewards, while big Paragon accounts are sweating fighting each other in VT brackets.
    Is that fair?
Smaller accounts getting higher rewards than bigger accounts?
Kabam learned nothing from the AW prestige matchmaking clown fiesta, and decided to do the same thing at BGs.
If they wanted to solve sandbagging, they could have just adjusted matchmaking to top15 average rating on deck.
Instead they chose to go the most unfair way and bring back the toxic Prestige matchmaking.
Just wait till big accounts realize what’s happening at BGs, after season ends, where many Paragons will be watching UC accounts getting ranked rewards, while they would have left stuck at some VT bracket.
    They will get outraged.
Imagine progressing an account in a progress based game and being punished for the exact same reason 😂
