So I tried out Battlegrounds and I don’t understand how they picked my opponent. All his guys were over 20k Prestige and mine weren’t even close to that. I had 6k 4 stars against 28k monsters. How is that even close to fair?

Am I not supposed to do BGs till I have atleast 30 champs over 20k prestige each?

Please enlighten me

It seems the matchmaking is more random in the tier you're in than what it used to be. I felt bad yesterday facing a dude who only had 1 r4. It felt like it was straight bullying. Just keep trying to find matches and hopefully you match against someone who is more your roster level.

Did you have your top champs in your deck or were you using weaker champs? Also, what tier were you in (bronze, gold, et)?

well it all depends when players decide to play, and then its broken down to whos closest rank to yours so if a paragon player is in bronze and one of the only people available to fight then unfortunately thats who you are fighting.
you also have to remember the nodes in BG also increase the defenders PI. you are seeing the increased numbers based on the nodes increase not just the player.
i will say there will be plenty of times when you fight someone with 30 r4 6* while you are using only 5 r3 6*, thats just where the bracket and player base is at, its not like youll find a bronze weaker player while you are in silver, not how that works.

The buff they added to this season battleground completely ruin this game for me. Its not even competitive nor fun anymore. Should've left it where it was. If its not broke why break it. Kabame main goal was for us to shuffle the deck, but ruining the game mode for that purpose was not so bright

First of all, at the moment exactly one of my 6* R4 champions has a higher PI than 20k, and that's my R4 sig 200 Hercules. If you saw someone loaded with 20k+ champs, he was almost certainly running suicides. This can inflate the PI of the champions relative to your own if you don't run suicides.

Second, the game no longer matches players based on the contents of your deck. They match players based primarily on their roster strength. Kabam has not revealed precisely how they do that, but it is understood to be some variation on prestige calculations, except prestige looks at your top five champs and Battlegrounds looks at more than that. The intent is to offer no advantage to doing anything other than using your strongest champs in your deck. Even if you don't use them, the game will still match you as if you did.

If you genuinely have a lower strength roster, such that you are using 4* champs as your strongest champs, then that sounds like a bug. But if you constructed a weaker deck hoping to match against other players using similar decks, that no longer works. The game will match you against players with similar strength roster.

However, in practice players have seen that "similar strength roster" is a very loose thing with very wide margins. Plus, the game can only match you against players looking for matches themselves. If you play at times when fewer players are looking for matches, you may get matched against players farther from your roster strength than normal, because the game can't find players that are precisely the same as you at that moment in time.

BGs is a horrible gamemode. The only people who actually have fun in BGs are the whales. As an f2p player, BG is living hell, and it has taken a toll on my mental and physical health, after I stayed up all night grinding BGs. And worst of all, I DIDN'T EVEN GET MY REWARDS!

I chose my strongest champs. I did not try to get a weaker opponent by using lower champs. That was the best i had. I have 1 r3 6 star but he banned it. 1/3 of my deck was 4 * because they are best i had. I tried and learned my lesson. I will wait a year or so when I can compete at that level.
