does anyone know for a guide online for what relics should be placed on certain characters?

Why? The relic already gives you a list of champs it's meant for.

Exactly. Those are just merely suggestions. I didn't know putting the 5* Storm relic on a 7 star Sunspot would work as well as it does until testing the relic out on all the champs, for example.
