WHAT HAPPENED TO BACK ISSUES?

What happened to back issues? We haven't got one in quite a while. if there's a post discussing this that I missed, do post it.
On a related note, With the way the game economy has been moving, Three and Four stars are borderline irrelevant for most players. I think having game content (e.g. Back issues series) that can only be tackled with three and Four stars will give them some relevance—just saying. Let me know what you guys think.

Most are garbage since they require specific and often otherwise useless rank ups for mostly mediocre rewards.
The gold is nice, and resources aren’t that bad, but they require commitment to champions you will mostly never use, maybe if they put a Carbondanium core for completion/exploration, that would be a different issue, but you get 2/3 times the quality and quantity of rewards from the monthly side event than from the back issues.

I want more back issues (Not the medical issues, though my back hurts sometimes) new and improved. I recently finished all of them as there were no AW and BG. Found them very fun and challenging. Rewards are not completely outdated as i got loads of gold and quite a good amount of 6* shards and isos. I m hopeful there will be back issues 2.0. Though things like BrutalDLX challenge and Shooting Stars are kinda spin off of same.

I did a post on same as well, it didn't go viral as some of my other posts:

That's true, But I do think it has a lot of potential. The idea that new players get to experience the game content when it was in it's infancy is quite a thrill. Plus, it creates a new backlog of content for both new and veteran players.

They weren’t generating enough interest (money) from players

They gave some reason after the backlash against the latest back issue, which I think was something along the lines of "we're focusing on other content for the targeted audience".

I think a big problem was that the original back issues were aimed at Cavalier players but as the game moved on and more and more progression titles were added, things got complicated. The players that originally played the back issues had gotten so much stronger that just more of the same (in terms of both difficulty and rewards) just wasn't cutting it anymore. When the last one came out, it was really weird. Difficulty-wise, it was basically aimed at endgame players. Rewards-wise, it was still very much not aimed at endgame players. That made everyone complain about it regardless of where they were, progression-wise.

I think Kabam just refocused its efforts on stuff like the EOP for endgame players. Meanwhile, there's no longer a need for Cavalier players to complete the back issues in order to progress to Thronebreaker, so there's no real need for any more of those to come out. There is already a hefty chunk of Cavalier-level content in the game to propel them to Thronebreaker, after which they can start doing TB-level content to propel them to Paragon, where you see most of Kabam's content efforts today.

That being said, I did really enjoy the back issues so I wouldn't mind seeing a return of them (with updated difficulty and rewards). But then again, would I prefer a new back issue if it took away development time for the regular story content that drops way too randomly nowadays? No, I don't think I would.

Has zero to do with money. It has more to do with providing content more suited for the game. Back issues is just something that couldn't keep up with the economy of the game rewards wise and takes a ton of development time. Having already 2 difficulties, adding more would just have been too much.

But please, continue to pedal your lies.

The fact that it challenges roster depth is exactly why they were good content. I'm sorry you couldn't use your Hercules crutch for some of the content.

I hope they add more chapters to shooting stars. That would be nice with more 7* shards as the focus of rewards
