Champions worth investing in after their star rating is obsolete

There's generally a clear mindset that it's no longer worth investing in champions of a lower star rarity once you've cleanly moved into the higher tiers, not to mention a few firm roadblocks to them (notably that you can't take 4* or lower beyond Act 5) but the frequent talk about Ronan in the BrutalDLX quest has me thinking again about which champs, if any, are still worth investing in if they're a lower star rating.

If you're well and truly in 6* territory, would you rank up a 5* Ronan just for specific content like BrutalDLX? What about Dr Doom? Hercules?

    Even with 13 R3 6 stars, I’m using a R4 5 star Medusa for Vision. Fixing to start TB difficulty. She’s already carried me through the 1st 4.

    I 100% DLX with a 5* Ronan. Testing with a 4* for my mini account. Feels like I have to be on top of my game for the 4* run…

    Ronan will always be useful even at lower star rarities
    In fact a 5* Ronan is more valuable if u are short on 6* sig stones & don't want to invest those sigs in a champ that is useful only 2-3 times a year

    I had a cosmic 4-5 gem & finally took my 5* Ronan to R5.....not bcoz he needed to be R5 for those fights, but bcoz I wanted the fights to end as quickly as possible
