BG weird thing in fight

Just fought kingpin with hulkling. He suddenly gained a bar of power for no reason that I am aware of. I ended up beating him after I took an sp2 because said power gain.

Is there something I’m not remembering that would cause that or could this be a very subtle form of cheat/mod?

    Its prey on the weak so any buff expires u will give power and hulkling has a lot of buffs
