Pausing in BGs an effective strategy in this BGs Meta

I am finding that a lot of opponents using pausing as a strategy in BGs. If you do end up with a matchup where the defender is immune to your attacker's DOT, its better to pause and pray that your defender knocks out the opponent's attacker rather than losing health.

I won a fight by pausing, I only had my Sasquatch that did damage, against a Scorpion, immune to rupture, I paused and let my Kindred deal with the opposing attacker, victory
Pausing to retain points is just self acknowledging a total lack of skill
I firmly believe that pausing should drain your health until it hits 0
Adjusting your roster to match the meta, is what you should do instead of pausing.
Good players are laughing at you for pausing, good pausers are lagging at you too, since you waited to take enough damage and then pause 🤷♂️

Do you consider taking a knee in (American) football or walking the ball up the court at the end of a basketball game to run out the clock cheating or cowardly? What about intentionally walking a power hitter in baseball in the bottom of the 9th? Battlegrounds is about strategy as much as skill. Knowing when to fight and when not to is part of being strategic.
Pausing at the start of a match already comes with a 25,000 point penalty. That’s not enough? If you can’t score half the available points in your match then the same “play better/build a better deck/learn the meta” comments can be directed at you.
Especially in this meta, choosing your battles makes more sense than going into a fight you know you can’t win.
The “it’s a fighting game, you should have to fight” argument goes out the window for me when you can still lose if you KO the defender and your opponent doesn’t. It’s not about winning a fight, it’s about maximizing points earned in the match.
The only thing that bothers me about pausing opponents is that it drags out the match and I’m usually crunched for time when I play.
Pause is definitely not allowed.
I can't find, but, Kabam Jax stated pause as one of the vilations on BG.
If your name on forums is the same as in game, take care, you're in serious trouble after that post.
Equivocating it with things like taking a knee in football is beyond silly to me because at that point you didn’t even play the game. Or if I’m being generous you sat your entire team for a full quarter. That’s a forfeit not a “clever play”
But this isn’t blame, it’s calling people cowardly for not fighting their fights. If the cowards need to make themselves feel better about being ambiguous on fair play and being scared to try, that’s on them.
